Payroll update 22304 wont's install even though I received a message that the latest payroll update was retrieved? I did Verify Data and Rebuild Data but still the update is not installing. Any idea how to resolve this? Thank you!
I appreciate the effort of downloading the tax table and running the Verify and Rebuild data, moam1220.
Let's try another solution to get the latest tax table. You can update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. This helps you get the full functionality of the payroll updates.
Here's how:
Once done, restart your QuickBooks company file, then run the program as Administrator. Download again the latest tax table to stay compliant with the calculations.

Hi MaryLandT,
I did that earlier. I marked the Reset Update checkbox and Get Updates but I received an error message - Failed to reset update. Any idea? Thanks!
I tried to update payroll to 22304 today and now my QuickBooks is hung up on the screen. Says "WARNING the file you specified can not be opened. Make sure that it is not currently being used by another program or a read-only file. The Windows error was 'The File Exists'."
I'm the only user and don't have another QB program open.
Underneath the Warning message is another message saying "Working. QuickBooks is updating files. Please wait." But nothing is happening.
I can't close or get out of this.
I'm so fed up with QB Payroll program because I've had nothing but problems beginning in December!
So do I just shut my computer down in order to exit the QB program???
I'm having an issue also trying to update to 22304. Now my QB file is hung up and I can't do anything!
Hello there, @moam1220, @elinGA. Let's work this out so both of you can proceed to get payroll updates on your individual QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) application.
Since you've already tried Verify and Rebuild, updating your QBDT to the latest release, but the issue persists, I recommend restarting your personal computer or laptop. Doing this allows your computer to absorb the steps that both of you performed. You'll then do a manual update and wait for it to finish to ensure the program is up and working on your end. In case it's still not working, I'd recommend performing this set of steps. To begin, here's how:
Please see this article for more information: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

I too cannot update to Payroll update 22304. I have verified my data -- check; I have updated my Desktop QB - check; closed QB, restarted the computer and verified the data again, check. I again for the umpteenth time tried to do a payroll update, it goes through the motions, but it ends saying "You have retrieved the latest payroll update and validated your Payroll subscription. We strongly recommend you go online again before 1/27/2023 (PS038). Today is 2/5/2023. I have payroll to do this week and the tax tables do not show up???? now what?
Thanks for joining the thread, foothill6633.
