Quickbooks payroll stops working

About every 6 months my QB payroll subscription stops working. QB indicates I have a valid and up to date paid subscription. I call in and a live person works my desktop until the service is restored. Why is this happening?

Before we start, I'd like to verify if you received a specific subscription error before your payroll stopped working. This will help identify the cause of the issue and guide me in providing you with the appropriate resolution.

 

You may have outdated QBDT software that's why your payroll stops working even if you have a valid and up-to-date subscription. You'll first want to ensure your program is updated to the latest release. This way, we can guarantee that it's running with the newest fixes and patches. Then, download the latest payroll tax table to stay compliant with paycheck calculations. To do this, here's how:

 

  1. Go to Employees.
  2. Select Get Payroll Updates.
  3. Choose the Download entire payroll update radio button.
  4. Click the Update or Download Latest Update button. An informational window appears when the download is complete. 83.PNG

Quickbooks payroll stops working

I have the same issue. I followed all the instructions listed in the reply, everything updates, but nothing changes. It says "You've retrieved the latest payroll update, but when I try to start a scheduled payroll, it again says I haven't updated in over 45 days and taxes are not being calculated/deducted. (Yes, payroll subscription is active and paid current.

Since you're still getting the same results, I recommend running the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub. This gives you tools to fix common issues within the program.

 

To start, download the most recent version (1.6.0.5) of the QuickBooks Tool Hub. Then, save the file somewhere you can easily find it like your Downloads folder. After installing the program, follow step two of this article to use its tools: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

 

If you're still getting the same results, I suggest contacting our QuickBooks Team. They're equipped with tools to check the cause. It'll also allow them to submit a ticket to our engineering team to alert them about the issue if necessary. 

 

Here's how to connect with them:
 

  1. Go to the Help menu and select QuickBooks Desktop Help/Contact Us.
  2. Click Contact Us. Give a brief description of your issue, then select Continue.
  3. Sign in to your Intuit account, click Continue, and then Continue with my account.
  4. We'll email you a single use code. Enter your code and select Continue.
  5. Choose chat with us or Have us call you.
