Hello, and thank you for your help.
I have quickbook 2015 accountant version running on both my desktop and laptop. I can open a company on my laptop, but it will not open on my desktop. Mind you, I have 7 companies' books on my desktop and this is the only company that won't open. I have attempted the following to remedy:
1. I ran File Doctor-it found no problems with the file.
2. I completely uninstalled and reinstalled QB2015-RC17 on my desktop. Still it won't open.
3. I copied over a fresh version from a laptop to a different location.
4. I created a backup from my laptop version, and attempted to restore it on my desktop.
So I am stuck. Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be grateful.
Thank you,
Pradhan

Update:
I felt like there was no reason in the world why opening a backup was failing. So...I did it again. It was seemingly taking forever, so I went out and had a cup of coffee. Lo and behold, when I came back, the login dialog box was there and it opened.
I have closed and opened it a dozen times since just to check. Seems to be fine now.
Odd though, that it wouldn't open even when I copied over all the files afresh. I would get an error something like a windows error "Administrative Permission Required", and then that would pop-up repeatedly.
Thanks for your help.

Which error message did you encounter?
Hi @Pradhansb,
Thank you for a very detailed post here in the Community. I'll point you in the right direction for support with this query about a company file in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).
Since you did the necessary troubleshooting steps for the issue you stated above, I suggest you contact our Technical Support team for further assistance. They can pull up your company information within a secure environment, and investigate why you're unable to open a company file on the desktop computer.
Open this article for the steps: Contact QuickBooks Desktop support. Please take note of their operating hours, so you know when they're available.
Post a reply if you have other questions about your QBDT company file, and I'll be sure to get back to you.
It just hung. I am going to try it once more. I have a backup from a system backup which is my last possibility. At least I CAN open it on my laptop, so all is not lost. I will post as soon as I try.
