When will QuickBooks for Windows 11 run on Mac M1 Chipsets using Parallels ?
Hi there, @WRLog.

Imho, as long as Parallels is fully compatible with Mac M1 and Windows 11, QuickBooks Desktop will run without any problems. The potential issue is only QB Desktop 2022 running on Win 11 natively to date. If you're having trouble running QBD 2020 or 2021 on Win 11, consider reinstalling and running it in compatibility mode Win 8.
Thanks for your thoughts. My understanding is Parallels is fully compatible with Mac M1 and Windows 11. In Dec 2021 I installed Parallels 17, Win 11 and QBDT 2021 on a new MacBook Pro running on the new M1 chipsets. The QBDT would not open and QB Tech support back then informed me it was not compatible with the M1 setup running on Win 11. My understanding is the problem lies with both Microsoft's beta version of their Win 11 running on the M1 chips (no final release yet) and QB - but this is out of my realm of knowledge about the matter. I have no interest in moving backward in versions of Windows OS.
Thank you for the detailed reply. I will be waiting for both QB update and Microsoft releases (beyond beta version of Win 11 running on M1 chipsets).

You are still running Win 11 on Parallels but should try running QB in Win 8 compatibility mode for the time being.
My apology as my thought process in haste thought of running in Win 8 compatibility mode as actually running Windows 8 OS. I no longer have the MacBook Pro running on the M1 chipsets and reverted back to my prior MacBook Pro running on intel chipsets. So I cannot test your solution. Sorry. Thanks for the attempt to help me.
Still doesn't work in compatibility mode nor running as an admin
I tried that with no luck. I also tried running as admin, no luck either. opening seems to work, but this is the persistent error going forward.
01/23/23 Update: I was informed by QB's Desktop support (877-683-3280) that QB Desktop Pro for Windows will now operate on Windows 11 run on Mac M2 Chipsets using latest Parallels. Can the Intuit Moderator please confirm that ?
Hi, @WRLog.
As per our requirements, QuickBooks 2023 will run on Windows 11. Thus, since Parallels runs on Windows 11, utilizing QuickBooks 2023 should be no issue.
Also, I'd recommend reaching out to Parallel to ensure they fully meet the system requirements.
You can view this article below for more details about our 2023 system requirements: System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023.

Carneil: Thanks for the reply. Just to be clear. I want to make sure that all versions of QuickBooks 2023, including QB Desktop Pro, will work on Windows 11 running in a Parallel's virtual machine environment which is running on a MacBook Pro using M2 chipsets. A year ago Intuit/QB said this setup (using the 2022 version of QB at the time) would not be compatible which unfortunately I discovered after previously upgrading my MacBook Pro to the one with the M1 chipsets. I don't want that to happen again. Thanks
Carneil: I checked out the system requirements website using the link you gave me (System Requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2023) and there is a notation there stating "Note: QuickBooks requires you to use Windows natively and not through an emulator or virtual environment.". I have run QuickBooks on a Windows OS running in a Parallel's virtual environment operating on a MacBook Pro computer using Intel chipsets for over 8 years now without any problems. All I am trying to accomplish now is to have verified that Intuit/QB have made the necessary software changes during the last year to allow QB Desktop Pro to operate on a Windows 11 OS running in a Parallel's virtual environment installed on a MacBook Pro computer using the new M2 chipsets.
Let me provide some information about QuickBooks for Windows 11 running on Mac M1 using Parallels, WRLog.
QuickBooks Desktop 2022 (Pro Plus, Premier Plus, Pro, and Enterprise) R3 or later is certified as fully compatible with Windows 11 64-bit. If you choose to use Windows 11 for other QuickBooks versions or even when running on Mac M1 Chipsets using parallels, there may be some unexpected issues with your QuickBooks software.
It's good to know that you're not experiencing any issues when using a MacBooks Pro computer in QuickBooks. However, our team doesn't stop working to ensure compatibility is working 100 percent free of errors and issues. Rest assured, we'll share any new information here once there are updates. You'll also want to search for a third-party application that would work on Mac M1 parallels.

Thank you for the follow-up response. I understand the limitation of what information can be disseminated by Intuit. I have decided to move forward with the new MacBook Pro using the M2 chipsets and will experiment installing QB Desktop Pro 2023 on Windows 11 OS running in the Parallels virtual environment that is running on the new MacBook Pro. Will leave an update later in March after the experiment takes place. Thank you again for the assistance in this forum.
I have an M2 MacBookPro and when Microsoft and Parallels announced that the 64bit ARM version for Parallels was moving out of "Beta" and officially supported, I was excited. I currently carry an old intel based mac and have to use that machine (running BootCamp and booting natively into Windows 11) in order to use Quickbooks Desktop 2023.
When this announcement came out I was pumped! Finally I can carry one laptop.
Sadly, I just updated my Parallels VM to all the latest WIndows 11 64-bit ARM version. All updates installed and applied. Attempted to install Quickbooks Premier 2023 and at about 40% it failed. The installation app tried to restart to see if that fixed the issue but no luck.
Seems I'll need to continue to carry two laptops for the time being.
Follow-up to my Feb 26th post. My transition to MacBook Pro using the M2 chipsets installing QB Desktop Pro 2023 on Windows 11 OS running in the Parallels virtual environment went very well and I have not found any glitches. Note: I use QB for basic accounting. I do not use it for employees/payroll or other features so I cannot vouch for higher level or add-on features.
I am currently running Quickbooks enterprise 2024 with Windows 11 on Mac M1 using parallels. The main problem I am having is I cannot send estimates or invoices using Outlook locally. I have to use Outlook live which sends the emial to junk or spam folders. Does anyone know of a work around for this?
Thanks for elaborating on your concern regarding Outlook, Brenda. I'm here to share the availability of emailing transactions using the local one and ensure they're inboxed successfully by the intended recipients.
The local Outlook application is not accessible as you are using a virtual machine, Parallels Desktop. Although you can set Outlook as your default email on this software by opening its configuration and switching to Options tab > Applications, adjusting the Web Pages and Emails settings is necessary. This is why you can only send estimates and invoices via email through Outlook Live, a web-based application.
As a workaround, you can right-click on the email and select This is not spam or Not Junk to prevent future instances of the emailed transactions flagged as such.
