We're currently looking for a cloud accounting platform for our business. The issue we're encountering is that many platforms have limitations on the number of transactions. We currently do around the following per month:
Around 3,000 bank transactions
Around 7,000 - 10,000 customer invoices (mostly all unique customers)
We don't sell many types of items - only around 50 - and almost all invoices have 5 or less items on it. We also don't have many suppliers. It's just lots of customers, customer invoices and bank payments to recon each month.
Will we be able to use the Quickbooks platform for our business? Are there hard limits?

Thanks for coming back and providing us in-depth details of your concern, Steven_ZA.
There are no transaction limits as far as performance is concerned. The transaction complexity has more impact on performance than transaction's volume. For instance, an invoice with a single item and no sales tax is less complex than one with multiple items and with sales tax applied.
Also, QuickBooks Online (QBO) is a web-based service and it relies on your computer or device’s processing power, the amount of available memory (RAM), and the bandwidth of your Internet connection to perform. A shortfall in any area can reduce performance. To improve performance, just follow the Why is my QuickBooks Online slow? article.

Thanks for the reply, but I was specifically referring to Quickbooks Online.
The only mention I can find is limitations on the number of users, and things like Chart of Accounts, but nothing about number of invoices or customers. I want to ensure that in a few months time I won't find we hit a limit that will stop us from using Quickbooks further.

I actually found this thread because of an issue I am having with searching a QBO file. My client has over 19k PayPal transactions ever year, and I have found that I am unable to successfully search for amounts any longer. I will have to look into the suggestion that my device is causing the issue, but I suspect not.
Thank you for joining the thread, @Niknic. I'll handle your query about the search function in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
I checked using a test QBO company and found that I'm able to search for amounts in transactions without issues. With that said, I suggest you open your browser's private window. This allows you to isolate cache, which is the common cause of unusual behaviors in browsers.
If this works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. Otherwise, open a different browser that's available for you.
In case you're using QBO Accountant, I suggest you view this article: Use accountant tools and features in QuickBooks Online Accountant. It lists the features available if you use QBO Accountant, along with links for their respective articles. From there, you'll find a detailed explanation for each of these features.
Leave a comment below if you have other questions about the search function in QBO. I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day!
HI,
I've just been on to Quickbooks support and I have 79,000 transactions and it is severely affecting performance - it takes over 45 seconds to match ONE transaction - I have 800 to do!
I have gone through all the above with the advisor and was told, basically, tough there's nothing else we can do. Looks like Quickbooks might be under investing in their hardware and its customers that are suffering
