Question

How do I deactivate the payroll feature?

I'm currently in an Accounting course which is focused upon QuickBooks. I am  working on a case study from a text book which is dealing with payroll set-up. However, I am stuck in a loop on QuickBooks Online that keeps forcing me to add the info in a sequential order -- as opposed to the cherry-picked order from my text.

Hey there, @eetremblay18. Congrats on your first post in the Community! 🎉

We recently updated our payroll service and with that update came a new signup and entry process to make it more streamlined and easy for users to get started. If you'd like to cancel your payroll service, you can follow these quick and easy steps:

  1. Go to Settings, then Account and Settings.
  2. Choose Billing & Subscription. (Note: If you don't see the Billing & Subscription tab, that means you are not signed in as either the Master Administrator or Company Administrator on the account. Or you purchased your QuickBooks Online from your Accountant.)
  3. What you need to do:
    • Sign in using your Master Administrator or Company Administrator credentials.
    • Contact your Accountant. And work with them to cancel your payroll subscription.
  4. In the Payroll section, select Cancel.
  5. Click Continue to cancel.
  6. Complete the short survey and hit Confirm cancel.

To find out more about the features provided with our new payroll plans, check out our pricing page.

That's it! Please touch base with us here if there's anything else you need, I'm determined to ensure your success.

My (one year free) subscription to QuickBooks was part of the textbook I purchased.

I presume I should work with them to resolve this issue.

Thank you for your assistance.
