Barclays personal account connection

I am trying to help a client connect his Barclays personal account to Quickbooks.  We go through the process but all it does is open the Barclays online banking page  - no mention of authorising a connection to Quickbooks.  

I have tried in my own Quickbooks to do the same with a Barclays personal account that i have but get the same issue.  I have tried a different browser and tried using incognito mode.  Quickbooks helpline can't help - said it was a Barclays problem.  Barclays say it is a Quickbooks problem.

Has anyone recently linked a Barclays personal account successfully and/or managed to get around this issue.

Or is it only me getting this?

Solution found!

 

I downloaded a free trial of Xero to see if that had the same issues.  I was able to connect Barclays with no problem but a couple of bits of information popped up that gave me an idea, and it worked!

 

Before trying to connect a Barclays Personal account to Quickbooks, open your Barclays online banking in a separate tab in your browser.  Then go through the linking routine.  It then doesn't try to take you to the Barclays online banking page as you are already logged in.  It instead gave me the expected option of which account I wanted to link, and carried on as expected from there and successfully downloaded the transactions.

I just tried on my phone:

"OBA28 - Sorry, we are unable to complete your Open Banking request.  For your security, it may take up to 4 days for this feature to be available.  Please contact your Third Party Provider if it is not available after this time"

 

It then logged me into the Barclays phone app

At this time, we have an open investigation for this exact issue you stated above. This investigation was added to track users getting this error message.

Hi

 

I contacted Quickbooks support.  They listened politely, then sent me standard instructions on how to connect and another email saying that they considered the matter closed.

 

This still does not work (I tried again just now).

 

Is there going to be a solution to connecting a Barclays personal account to Quickbooks?  If not, I suggest that you remove it from the list so that we at least don't waste time trying it.

Hello Slave, IS it a new connection or a reconnection your trying to do for your Barclays personal account? When you try and connect it up are you getting any error messages or codes showing up at all? Are you trying to do the connection on quickbooks app or web browser version?

This is a new connection.  I have tried on desktop and phone app.

 

I get no error codes.  All that happens is the process logs me into my Barclays online banking page, there is no mention of connecting to Quickbooks.  I have been through this with one of your colleagues screen sharing to show them.

First and foremost, I am grateful for the time and effort you have put in so far in this. As I check on my resources, Barclays personal account is already available here in QuickBooks. I also did some research and found no issue or investigation about this. Barclay is now ready for open banking. If you haven't yet, you can consider updating your bank feed connection to open banking for a better experience. You can visit this article for more information.

If the issue persists, you can consider contacting support. This way, a representative can check and investigate to determine what's causing this problem on your account.

This solution worked fine for me on Safari but not on Google Chrome.  Maybe a cookies thing?

Hello Ppsouto, yes it could be a cookies thing if you can try clearing your cache and cookies to all time close the browser down , reload it and try again.

Hi, did the same thing and thrown me a OBA28 error code what is not recognised by Barclays even though it's sent by Barclays app.....

Hello.

 

I'll lay down a couple of solutions to help you fix the OBA28 error code. 

 

Barclays uses the PINsentry token to connect with other apps such as QuickBooks. The error code is likely caused by damaged app data, or if the app is outdated. 

 

Make sure the Barclays app is updated. Uninstall and reinstall the app if you get the same error code. 

 

If the OBA28 error code still appears, we'll want to have this checked by contacting Barclays support. We can ask them for issues about establishing a third-party connection with other apps, and the token itself. 

 

After working with Barclays support, link your account again in QuickBooks.

 

When you're able to do so, we can start categorising your entries for your books
