Hi there, @mp821w,

I can help remove Intuit Sync Manager so you'll no longer get the message that an update is available.

You'll first need to clear the company files from Intuit Sync Manager. Please make sure QuickBooks is closed.

Here's how:

1.    Right-click Intuit Sync Manager from the system tray.
2.    Select the company, one at a time if there are several companies listed.
3.    Click the Sync Enabled menu.
4.    Select Disable from the drop-down menu.

Once it's done, open QuickBooks and clear the sync settings. Let me show you how:

1.    Click the Help menu.
2.    Select Manage Data Sync.
3.    Select Clear Sync Settings.
4.    Click Yes to confirm.
5.   Click OK.

You can removing the sync manager from the Company Preferences window. You also need to perform these additional steps to ensure the automatic updates are stopped.

  • Close QuickBooks.
  • Close Intuit Sync Manager (Open the system tray, right-click Intuit Sync Manager and select Exit Sync Manager.
  • Rename the file to SyncManager.OLD (C:\Users\\AppData\Local\Intuit\SyncManager)
  • Remove Intuit Sync Manager startup from the Windows MSConfig Utility screen (You can consult an IT professional for assistance).

Let me know if you need further assistance with the steps. I'll be here to help.

Thanks for replying.  I'm unable to follow these instruction. Could it be as I'm using Quickbook 2013. If so, do you have the instructions for that version?

Thanks, Mike

So it is working now.....I could not get the one of the updates to download (Maintenance Releases) until now...I keep an error. Working great now except, it now forced me to set up a password. I hate passwords, do you by chance know if is there anyway to get rid of passwords so I dont have to use it everytime I log in?

All the sync information starts with, "Right-click Intuit Sync Manager from the system tray."

Where does one find this? I am running QB Pro 2022 desktop and cannot see any Sync Manager and am not entirely sure what the system tray is.

Where is this located?

Thanks for joining us here, @Upnorthdave.

I'll show you where you can find the Intuit Sync Manager on your system tray. In your system tray, you will see two green arrows. If you are in a server environment, the icon may be on the server.

To view it from the system tray:

  1. On your computer, you'll see short-cut icons at the bottom of your screen. That's your system tray.
  2. Hover towards the arrow (see image below) to view the Intuit Sync Manager.
  3. From there, right-click on the icon to enable sync.

If you're able to find it, proceed with the steps provided by my peer @ MichelleT. You can search for Intuit Sync Manager from your computer settings. Just enter "Intuit Sync Manager" in the Type here to search the field.

I'm attaching this article about Intuit Sync Manager for more information. Feel free to browse: Discontinuation (Disco) of Intuit Sync Manager.

Please let me know if you have other questions or concerns about Intuit Sync Manager. I'm more than happy to assist you. Take care and have a great day ahead.

Thanks for the reply and detailed information.

So it is a new PC and by using your information I have confirmed that I do not have the QB's sync manager on my PC.Looking in the system tray it seems like I do not have the Sync Manager downloaded onto the new PC - this makes sense.

System tray.png

So I am hoping to find out how to upload or install that to my PC / QB's. I am trying to add a 3rd party APP called Melio. See attached, Melio.png

This maybe beyond the scope of this discussion but any help available would be great. As a note, when I uploaded this all to my previous PC it all worked fine, but it seems that I am missing the upload of QB's sync manager to make this 3rd party APP mesh and sync with QB's..

Thanks so much!!!!!

Thanks for providing details, Upnorthdave.

Integrating QuickBooks Desktop with your Melio account helps you save time by reducing the number of manual entries you have to do when receiving payments. You'll have the option to download the Sync Manager or the QuickBooks Desktop Connector when you click the Connect button in your Melio account's settings section.

Please check your computer's download location and open the file to install it. If you're can't find the file, you can initiate the connection again.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Settings section in your Melio account and choose QuickBooks Desktop Sync.
  2. Click the Connect to QuickBooks button.
  3. When prompted to confirm the connection, select the Connect button.
  4. Choose the Download button, then Next.
  5. Once the download is complete, open the file and copy the license number that appears on your Melio.
  6. Paste the information in the Sync Manager, then Install.
  7. Launch QuickBooks Desktop and ensure you're signed in to your account as admin.
  8. In Melio, click the I'm signed in to QuickBooks.
  9. Go back to the Sync Manager and select your region (US). Then, click the Link with Melio Payments button.
  10. Go back to QuickBooks Desktop. When prompted to grant access to Melio, select Yes, whenever this QuickBooks company file is open and click Continue.
  11. Follow the on-screen instruction to complete the process.

If you receive any error during the process, I recommend reaching out to Melio support. They'll be able to walk you through the whole procedure.
