Error message: QB_Payroll_Link.xlt

Since QB22 is now 64bit it doesn't seem that the template works anymore, tried replacing / rebooting and no dice. The BigRed template will not give you the error anymore about the pivot tables or damaged data but it now seems it just doesn't fetch the correct data from the QB file. :(

I have used the BR template for many year versions of QB.

I switched to 64bit excel as well in hopes that would resolve but nope...

I'm having the same problem as well since updating to QB22.  The old fix doesn't work any longer :(  Hopefully the Big Red guys can fix this too seeing as QuickBooks' techies don't feel it's important.

Agree - this is now a major issue as the old fix doesn't work, the new data being imported is inaccurate and this needs immediate attention from Quick Books.  I tried to call support again and explain the variances I found.  Once again the support rep was totally incapable of understanding the issue or the importance of having this fixed.  Tried to tell me it was an issue with my excel.  I am manually having to calculate hours for each of my 97 employees to report the union dues.  Instead of taking me a few hours to do the reports, I have now spent 2 days.  Please quickbooks pay attention to this issue and make the fix a priority.

Big Red - any chance you will be able to update your fix to this ongoing issue for those of us who have updated to QuickBooks 22?  the old fix no longer works and QB doesn't seem to think this is a priority.  I've used your fix for the last couple years and was devastated when it wouldn't work since we upgraded.

I've also updated to QB22 and now the State Wage Listing and Quarterly is giving me Employees and Social Security numbers for people that are not my employees. I would think this would be a huge priority for QB's as it's a security issues that I now have other people's social security numbers!

Hi there, sissya.

I appreciate you for coming back to the thread to add some further concerns. With this, I'll ensure to share different troubleshooting steps to make sure that your issue will be fixed as soon as possible.

To begin, I recommend that you use the most recent QuickBooks Desktop and payroll tax table. This is to ensure that your payroll subscription and data are up to date. This could be the reason why you're getting other people's names and social security numbers on State Wage Listing and Quarterly listing that are not your employees.

If the issue continues to occur, I suggest running the Verify and Rebuild Data Utilities to get this sorted out. The Verify Data utility identifies any potential data damage issues that might've caused some unusual behavior. While the Rebuild Data utility repairs damaged data in your company file. Before this, you'll have to secure a backup copy of your company file.

If the issue persists, I reccomend contacting our QuickBooks Support Team. They have the tools to pull up your account in a secure environment which we're unable to do it here in the Community. That way, they'll be able to investigate the cause of the problem.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to view various scenarios and possible causes why an employee or employees will be missing: Employee is missing from your QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

Please leave a message below if you have any other concerns about payroll or employee data. I'll be around to help.

This issue NEEDS to be made an immediate priority for Quickbooks.  Since the update to QB22,the report provides inaccurate data and needs to be corrected.  I have run all your interim steps and they do not fix anything.  Spent more than 2 hours on the phone with support on Saturday (total waste of my time), was placed on hold with no one coming back to answer - presumably because they had no answers - and was finally disconnected after requesting to speak to a supervisor.  Since this problem was first identified more than 2 years ago, and an outside consultant was able to provide a fix, it would seem Quickbooks should be able to make the correction to their software.  Please Please Please get someone to look at this.

Agreed @kimbuc ! This is so frustrating. I have been using the fix for years now, too. We were going to upgrade to QB2022, but now I think we'll hold off until a new fix is available. The awful customer service we're receiving from QuickBooks on this issue is inexcusable. We pay too much money to NOT have our software work!! @ChristieAnn  @Maybelle_S

Hello Big Red.  Thank you for tackling this on.

I am on Desktop 22 and when I launch your macro, after selecting the period as Last Quarter, it gets this pop-up: "Unexpected Error; quitting".  I run Windows 10.  MS Office 365 Subscription with Automatic updates.  Any Thoughts?

Yes, that error was issued because the original fix we published won't work with QuickBooks 2022 or Enterprise 22.0, since they were transitioned to 64-bit.  We've just published an update that adds support for these new versions.

Not sure who on the QB Engineering team is working on this as it's been several years and the program still doesn't work.  What does it take to actually have someone review the error and fix the program?

I have a file that I have to recopy into the Quickbooks Templates folder after most of the program updates.   Why Intuit can't figure out what's going on is beyond me.  It's been going on for a long time.  I have the template file:   (QB_Payoll_Link.XLT) .   It figures though: I can't send the file in this thread.

Attached is the latest message I get. I export other reports from QB to excel all the time. The "Summarize Payroll Data in Excel" report hasn't worked in years. It's disappointing because it's a critical report for payroll.

Previous to the current message, the report would run, but when you opened it, no data was pulled from QB. The only data in the report was some sample data from a generic, possible tutorial source.

Hi there, ap5,

Know that if I were in your shoe, I would feel the same way. For now, let me provide you with some information about this matter.

I've checked our records here and have discovered that there's an open investigation into this. Rest assured that our product engineers are working actively to get this issue resolved.

For now, I'll share some workaround that our engineers have provided by deleting and re-downloading the QB_Payroll_Link.xlt template to get rid of the error.

Let me guide you on how:

1. Close QuickBooks Desktop.
2. Open Windows File Explorer, and then select This PC.
3. Go to the C drive.
4. Select Program files (86x), then choose Intuit.
5. Go to the QuickBooks20xx folder, then click Components.
6. Click Templates, then find the QB_Payroll_Link.xlt file and delete it.
7. Reopen QuickBooks and get a full payroll update.

I'd also recommend contacting our Customer Support Team to add your account details to the notification list and ask them to connect your case to INV-24874. Any developments will be reported via email.

I'd also like to share this article you can read to help you personalize, track, and manage payroll: Customize payroll and employee reports.

I'm looking forward to hearing about this being resolved. Let me know if you require further assistance with your payroll reports. I'm here to help you anytime. Wishing you a blessed year.

I want to ensure you that the "State Payroll Report" tab has not worked for over 2 years.  I have tried support only to have zero happen.  I have tried EVERYTHING EVERYONE HAS SUGGESTED.  NO change.  The last time the state reports were enabled was 2021 early before the 2021 was installed.  Microsoft States" Quickbooks Problem" Quickbooks Support says "Microsoft 365" problem.  Get over yourselves and fix these problems. We do not spend $$$$ on Quickbooks to only be told SORRY. ONGOING ISSUE.  This is not NEW.
