Please let me know that If I purchase Pro Plus 2021 quick books desktop software then

can I use Payroll operations in this quick books desktop application ?

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I'm happy to provide some insight into QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus. 

 

There are two different versions of the Pro Plus 2021 edition. 

 

  1. Pro Plus 2021
  2. Pro Plus 2021 + Payroll

If you wish to use our payroll services, you'll need to purchase the Pro Plus 2021 + Payroll. This edition includes Enhanced Payroll features, such as:

 

  • Faster, easier payroll all inside QuickBooks.
  • Live support via phone or chat.
  • Use free direct deposit, printed checks, or both. 
  • Payroll taxes are calculated for you. 

Check out QuickBooks Desktop Pro Products to see the list of included features for all Pro editions.

I only use the GL for doing a Financial Statement and Balance Sheet once a month, we sold the business we only have the land now.  I am the only employee, we write maybe 3 checks a month.  No deposits. Couldn't I get by with just the Pro Package,  why would I need the Pro Plus. We don't run payroll either.  I shouldn't have to pay for all the extras right?

Thanks for following and voicing your first concern in this thread, @KAYG2. I know you want to use the QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) Pro for your business. Let me share with you some of the differences in the programs first.

 

QBDT Pro version:

 

  • The QuickBooks Pro version is available for a one-time purchase. 
  • Pro can have up to a 3 user license. 
  • You can import data from other programs to Pro. 

 

QBDT Pro Plus:

 

  • Has the same features as Pro, with additional features included. 
  • Additional features include Sales tax tracking, Inventory, Expense, Payroll services, Etc. 
  • Annual upgrades.
  • Unlimited phone support.
  • Security patches. 

 

Should you still opt to use QuickBooks Pro, you can purchase a (one time) license to install it. Then, open your company file from there. 

 

Here's how: 

 

  1. Download QuickBooks Pro.
  2. Open the QuickBooks.exe file. 
  3. Follow the onscreen instructions. Accept the software license agreement. Then, hit Next
  4. Key in your Product and License numbers. Then, tap on Next.
  5. Choose your install type (Express or Custom).

 

To open the company file:

 

  1. Click on Open or restore an existing company.
  2. Select Open a company file, then hit Next.
  3. Locate your company file, click on it, then hit Open.

Why would I purchase the Pro again, if I already had it.  I only use the GL 4 hours per month, no payroll nothing else.  Business was sold, just own land and building so we maybe have 4 hours per month to use Quickbooks.  I don't understand why I would purchase it again.  Michael Rey told me last year I wouldn't be charged anymore.  In 2012 when we started using Quickbooks we purchased the GL, so don't we own it?

Allow me to add some information about updating your QuickBooks Desktop app.

 

Since you already have a license from 2012, I recommend updating your license information.

 

Here's how:

 

  1. Go to Help.
  2. Click Manage My License.
  3. Choose Sync License Data Online to update your new license information.
