Need help figuring out how to add 18 missing bank transactions that didn't come over to QBO

Greetings Everyone!

Like you all are likely doing, I'm preparing my P&Ls and Balance Sheets for my CPA. All was going well until I made it to the month of October when reconciling. I couldn't balance because 18 transactions on my bank statement actually never made it to QBO. I did remember having to reconnect my bank to QBO because of my password expired at my bank. I reconnected it and all was well. So I thought.

Now, I can't reconcile until these 18 transactions (all in various categories and dates) are somehow put into m QBO.

Is there a way to do this without having to key each transaction separately as a journal entry? GOD! Help!

Hi there, @surevbu. I'll help you add the missing bank transactions.

When you connect your accounts, it automatically downloads transactions up to a certain date. To enter those 18 old missing transactions, you can manually upload them into QuickBooks Online (QBO). You can download the data from your bank. Then, map the transactions in the following supported formats or file types:

  • Comma-Separated Values (CSV)
  • QuickBooks Online (QBO)
  • Quicken (QFX)

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your bank or credit card's website.
  2. Follow your bank's instructions for how to download your transactions to your computer. Every financial institution has different steps.
  3. Check the date range for the download. It should be at least one day before the date of your oldest transaction.
  4. Download your transactions. Save the file somewhere you can easily find it, like your computer's desktop.

Before you upload it, make sure it's in the correct format. Once done, upload it into QBO.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu or Transactions menu. Then, select the Banking tab.
  2. Select the blue tile for the account you want to upload the transactions into.
  3. Click the Link account dropdown and then Upload from file.
  4. Select Browse and then select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, click Next.
  5. In the QuickBooks account dropdown, select the account you want to upload the transactions into. Then, click Next.
  6. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks. Then, click Next.
  7. Select the transactions you would like to import. Then, click Next.
  8. Click Yes.
  9. When you're ready, select Let's go.

Once uploaded, review and categorize them. Then, you can reconcile your account to ensure they match. To learn more about the reconciliation workflow in QuickBooks, you can refer to the articles below. It contains complete information to keep your accounts accurate:

@surevbu

Another option, utilize MT Online. It is designed to import into any bank or credit card in QuickBooks Online, so there is no specific setting needed.
