Hi there, @jayland86.

Error code 103 occurs when the login credentials you entered in QuickBooks Online (QBO) don't match those on your financial institution's records. You may have entered them correctly on your credit card's website but made a mistake when inputting them in QBO.

If you're trying to connect your bank to QBO for the first time, please ensure that you have the correct user ID and password for your bank account. If your password is auto-filled, click the show icon next to it to verify if it's accurate.

Also, some banks require you to grant permission to connect your bank account to another service like QBO. Please follow your bank’s instructions to enable this connection, or contact them if you have any questions or need assistance.

If you're already connected but have recently updated your credentials with your financial institution, you'll need to update those details in QBO as well. Follow step 3 from this article to update your sign-in information for your bank in QBO: Fix bank error 103 in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to revisit this thread if you have any additional questions.

Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser.

Error 103 means the username or password QuickBooks is sending doesn't match what your bank expects, even when the same login works on the bank's own site. The two most common reasons for that exact situation are a stale auto-filled password being submitted behind the scenes, and QuickBooks being pointed at the wrong bank tile when several have similar names. Here's how to work through it.

1. Confirm your sign-in works directly at the bank

  1. Open a new browser window and go straight to your credit card's website.
  2. Sign in with the exact user ID and password you're using. If the password is auto-filled, select the show (eye) icon to verify it's correct.
  3. If you can't sign in there, reset your password on the bank's site first, since you'll need the working one in the next steps.

2. Check whether your bank requires third-party access

Some banks require you to grant permission before a service like QuickBooks can connect. While you're on the bank's website, look for a third-party access or data-sharing setting and turn it on, or contact the bank if you're unsure.

3. Re-enter your credentials in QuickBooks, and clear any auto-fill first

  1. Go to All apps, then Accounting, then Bank transactions.
  2. Select the credit card account showing the error, then select Fix now. This opens your bank's sign-in.
  3. If the username and password fields are auto-filled, clear them completely so an old saved password isn't submitted by mistake, this is a frequent cause when your login otherwise works.
  4. Type the correct user ID and password manually, then select Update.

If you're setting up a brand-new connection instead, make sure you pick the exact bank you just signed into. Many banks have near-identical names and logos in the list, and choosing the wrong one produces Error 103 even when your credentials are right.

4. If a strange security question or the error persists

An incorrect security question can appear when the wrong sign-in info reaches the bank. Double-check your login at the bank's site in a private or incognito window, and confirm the bank listed in QuickBooks is exactly the right one. Signing in to QuickBooks itself through a private/incognito window can also rule out cached data. If it still won't connect, you can manually upload your transactions in the meantime so nothing falls behind.

If you also set up this connection and someone else was the original user, have that original user re-establish it (use Send a request in the error message so they get a link to reconnect).
