Adjusting W-2 for Bonus

I need to adjust a W-2 for last year to gross up wages for a 'bonus".  The bonus is the gift of a company vehicle given in 2025.  QB online will not allow the adjustment and support is of no help.  I've always made these adjustments in the past with QB desktop, now if I don't get adjustments made by 12/31, it does not allow me to.  And now QB wants to automatically file and pay my taxes and take no accountability!!!

We hear you, Skates. QuickBooks Online (QBO) Payroll does allow for W-2 adjustments, provided that they impact employees' W-2s, such as wages, fringe benefits, or tax withholdings.

Please note that calculating taxes for a vehicle gift can be complex. We highly recommend verifying the exact gross-up amounts and tax corrections with a tax expert to ensure your business meets all IRS requirements. If you don't currently have an accountant, you can use our Find a ProAdvisor tool. It connects you with QuickBooks-certified professionals who can give you exact numbers.

Once you have the accurate figures from your accountant or tax professional and confirm that the company vehicle value is reflected on your employee's W-2, please reach out to our live support team again. Mention that you need specifically, like "filing a W-2 amendment for a prior-year fringe benefit" related to compensation outside of regular wages.
