Question

How do I set 7 day payment terms as my standard

99% of my work is 7day payment terms. Whenever I create an invoice, the lowest option I’m given is 14days. So I have to set a custom date every time. This is really time consuming when I’m creating lots of invoices. How do I set 7day terms as my default?

To set a 7-day payment term as your standard in QuickBooks Online, you will first create the custom term and then set it as your default.

Here's how to create the custom term:

  1. Click the Gear icon and choose All lists under the Lists column.
  2. Select Terms and click the New button.
  3. Name the term something clear, like Net 7 or 7 Days.
  4. Set the number of days to 7, then click Save.

Next, here's how to set this term as your default for future invoices:

  1. Go to the Gear icon again and choose Account and settings.
  2. Click the Sales tab on the left menu.
  3. Select anywhere in the Sales form content section to expand it.
  4. Find the Preferred invoice terms dropdown menu.
  5. Choose your newly created Net 7 or 7 Days option.
  6. Click Save.
