Good to see you here in the Community, @knapiks.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we can run the Balance Sheet Monthly Comparison to see the increase or decrease of an asset account.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Reports menu, and then choose Reports Center.
  2. On the search bar, type Balance Sheet Monthly Comparison at the top right corner.
  3. On the Standard Reports window, look at the Balance Sheet Monthly Comparison and then click Run.
  4. From the Dates drop-down arrow, choose to This Month.

I've also added this link about customizing reports in QBDT. It can help your transactions organize: Customize reports in QuickBooks Desktop.

To know more about running reports in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), check this article: Understand reports.

Thank you for getting back, @knapiks.

The said report must be available in QuickBooks Desktop. To narrow down your search, you can type in the Balance Sheet on the field provided. Then, run the Balance Sheet Monthly Comparison report. I'll guide you how.

  1. From the Report Center, type in Balance Sheet on the search field.
  2. Look for Balance Sheet Monthly Comparison on the result.
  3. Tap Run to open the report.

From there, customize the report and filter the accounts to All assets. For an additional guide, you can open this article: Understand reports.

If you don't see the report, you can open the Balance Sheet Prev Year Comparison. From there, follow these steps to get the trend per month:

  1. Go to the Reports tab, then click on Company & Financial.
  2. Tap on Balance Sheet Prev Year Comparison.
  3. Customize the accounts you want to display on the report from the Customize Report tab.
  4. Show the columns by Month.
  5. Once done, export the report to Excel and omit the unnecessary details from there.

Aside from exporting your reports, you can also save its current customization settings so you won't go through the customization process again. Here's how: Create, access and modify memorized reports.
