We were ransom-wared and we lost all of 2020 Quickbooks transactions. Short of me entering each one separately, can I import a list of the checks from Excel? I am seeing posts about IIF files and I am just confused now. HELP!

As of the moment, there isn't an integrated way to import your list of checks created using an Excel file in QuickBooks Desktop. You can only import a list of names, accounts, and products or services using an Excel File.

Using the import kit, would this be used only for one check transaction at a time, or can multiple checks be entered using new TRNS/SPL rows between the TRNS and ENDTRNS commands?

Yes, you can import multiple checks using IIF. You'll just need to make sure that the file is in correct format especially the header. You can download and use the .IIF import kit to understand more how to prepare your file.

I don't think you can import a list of checks directly from Excel. However, you can use a tool like our BRC IIF Transaction Creator to create an IIF file from your worksheet data, which can then be imported.
