Question

stop automatic check numbering when importing tax payments

When I import electronic payments for taxes, Quickbooks automatically assigns check numbers where no check number should be.  This subsequently throws off my check numbering.

Any suggestions on how to stop this, or how to make the check number EFT?

Thanks

Hi, @bayouwatcher. Let me share insights about importing tax payments to QuickBooks.

Disabling the automatic check numbering when importing tax payments is currently not available. Once the check is added to QuickBooks, you may want to modify the number manually. I can see the importance of stopping the automatic numbering for your tax payments. For now, I'd recommend sending this idea to our product developers to let them know how useful this feature is for your business. This way, they can consider this in the future.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Go to the Gear icon at the top, then Feedback.
  3. Enter your comments or product suggestions.
  4. Hit Next.

Once done, your valuable suggestion goes to our designated team to help improve your experience in QBO. You can track feature requests through the QuickBooks Online Feature Requests website.

If you need to print your checks, use this article as your reference: Print a check in QuickBooks Online. If there are printing issues, you may need to open the print setup and adjust your alignment settings.

Leave a comment below if you have follow-up questions about your imported tax payments. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
