Hey there, as.bernatovic.

Are you trying to set up custom invoice numbers in QuickBooks Online? If so, let me share with you the steps on how to assign numbers to your invoices. Here's how:

  1. Click the Gear Icon and select Accounts and Settings.
  2. On the left, click Sales and then select anywhere within the Sales form content section.
  3. Toggle the Custom transaction numbers button to turn on.
  4. Click Save, then Done.

Once completed, you can manually add the invoice number, and QuickBooks Online will remember the number and continue the sequence.

For further guidance, you can refer to this article: Add custom transaction numbers to sales forms in QBO.

Additionally, you can personalize and add specific info to your invoices to enhance your business communications.

Feel free to keep us posted if you have more concerns about setting up invoice numbers. The Community is always here for you. Stay safe!

Thanks for getting back to the thread and following the steps, as.bernatovic.

At times, an excessive build-up of cache in a web browser can lead to unexpected behavior in QuickBooks. This might be the reason why you're still unable to set custom invoice numbers even after enabling the feature.

To troubleshoot the issue, let's open your account in a private browsing window. This will allow us to determine if the problem is related to excessive cache and resolve it. Simply use the following shortcut keys to access this mode:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

If it works, go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. If the issue persists, try using another supported browser instead.

If you're still experiencing the same issue, I recommend reaching out to our QuickBooks Team. They can review your account in a secure environment and help diagnose the issue.

To ensure that all your financial transactions are balanced and prepare your business for the upcoming year, you can refer to our Year-end guide for QuickBooks Online.

Let me know how it goes. I want to ensure that you're able to set invoice numbering in QuickBooks. If you have additional questions, just add them to this thread and I'll get back to you. Have a great day.
