Why can I no longer see prior journal entries at the bottom of the journal entry screen and it also does not show totals at the bottom to make sure I am in balance. Very frustrating. It worked a couple of weeks ago.

It sounds like you're not using an QuickBooks Accountant SKU, like Premier Accountant or Enterprise Accountant. If I remember right, the features you mention are only part of the Accountant SKUs.

Thanks for reaching out to the Community, @lwilson. I'm here to help you figure out what's happening with your company file.

There are a few things that could cause your Prior Journal Entries to be missing. So, I've replicated your concern here on my end and confirmed that the journal entries screen is working fine, and I can see the Prior Journal Entries at the bottom.

What you've encountered might be caused by a damaged component in the program. To fix this unusual behavior, we can perform some troubleshooting steps.

Let's start by ensuring the company file is updated to its latest release. Doing this will give you a better update and fix unusual issues, like missing data.

If the issue persists after doing that, I'd recommend running the Verify and Rebuild tools. This tool can help to detect data damage. I'll show you how.

  1. Go to the File menu, and select Utilities.
  2. Choose Verify Data, then tap OK to close all windows. If you see a message prompt like Your data has failed the integrity check, you need to rebuild your file. If there are no problems with your data, you're all set.

If there are problems with your company file, you have to rebuild it.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Files menu and select Utilities.
  2. Choose Rebuild Data, and then click OK.
  3. Tap OK to make a backup to prevent data loss along the process.
  4. Hit OK to continue the rebuild process.

You can check out this article for more insights about the verify and rebuild process: Verify and Rebuild data.

Feel free to drop a message below if you need anything like managing your journal entry reports or any other QuickBooks-related concerns. I'd be happy to assist you at any time. Stay safe and have a good one!

This means you have not replicated the issue on your end, not that you have. If you had replicated the issue, you'd know the answer, which you don't seem to know.

Yes, that is it. We are no longer using Accountant. Sorry didn't think about that.
