POS Reporting into QuickBooks

We recently add the QB POS system to our store, but are not thrilled with how it reports into our QB desktop accounting.  All the sales come in grouped as Merchandise Sales, but I need them split into merchandise catagories:  Clothing, Gifts, Non-Taxable Labor...  All the items are catagorized in the POS and I can print a report that shows sales by catagory.  Can I brin
