Question

Reports no longer generating

I create report.  Open and close it all day. Come back the next day and it will not open.  It has happened before this latest version 3 times.  Now it seems to happen every time I make a new report that I want to memorize.  Why is this happening?

    I'm here to help you with resolving the error you're having with your memorized report, @DBETHEA.

     

    The error can be caused by the memorized report or the memorized report list being damaged.

      

    First, update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release to ensure that you have access to the newest features and product enhancements. Once done, re-sort the Memorized Reports list. 

     

    Here's how:

     

    1. Go to the Reports menu, click on Memorized Reports and select Memorized Reports List.
    2. In the Memorized Reports, choose Re-sort List.
    3. Select OK when you get the prompt Are you sure you want to return this list to its original order?.

     

    Once done, run the Rebuild and Verify Utility tool to fix possible data damage on your company file.

     

    Please follow the steps below:

     

    1. Open your company file again.
    2. Go to the File menu, then select Utilities and choose Rebuild Data.
    3. Click OK in the QuickBooks Information window.
    4. Wait until the repair is done. Then, click OK.
    5. Then, go back to the File menu and select Utilities and choose Verify Data.
    6. Click OK if QuickBooks doesn't find any problems. Or Rebuild Now if it finds issues with your company file.

    Mary, the steps you provided is not a good solution.  The issue just needs to be fixed.  I shouldn't have to go through all of these steps every day for every report that I created the previous day.  Every day I create a report and use it all day. The next day it doesn't open. If I create 5 reports.  I shouldn't have to recreate 5 reports each day or go through these steps above 5 times every day.

    There are times, you'll have to perform some troubleshooting steps to resolve the issues and gets you back on track. If you have already performed the steps above, and yet you're still unable to access reports, we can re-sort the report lists to resolve data damage. Here's how: 

     

    1. From the Reports menu, select Memorized Reports, then choose Memorized Reports List.
    2. Click the drop-down arrow and click Re-sort List. 
    3. Hit Yes to confirm.
    4. Re-open the new memorized report to verify if it's already working well.
