Since your current QuickBooks Mac 2020 version is no longer supported, you need to purchase the latest version for Windows to ensure compatibility and continued support. Once you’ve purchased it, you can now proceed with moving your company file to QuickBooks for Windows.
To do so, here’s how:
- Update your QuickBooks for Mac to its latest release.
- Remove any memos longer than 50 characters or contain special characters like !@#$%^&*.
- Log in to your account using the admin user credentials.
- Then, go to File and select Export. Once done, select 'To QuickBooks for Windows. If ever you get prompted to verify before you back up, please click Verify.
- Give the file a name and select the folder where you want to save it, then click Save. Please avoid using special characters in the file name.
- Set and confirm a password for the file, then click OK, followed by another OK to confirm.
- Transfer the file to your Windows computer using a USB flash drive, cloud storage, or email (if the file size permits).
- Once the file is on your Windows computer, restore it in QuickBooks for Windows.
