Quickbooks Update

I am having issues logging into my company file. When I open QuickBooks it has a pop up that says: Before you open your current version of QuickBooks The latest version of QuickBooks is installed and your data is converted and ready to go. You can launch the latest version of QuickBooks from the icon on your desktop. Any changes you make in your current version of QuickBooks will not be automatically updated into the latest version of QuickBooks. Do you still want to work in your current version of QuickBooks?

When I try logging in to my company file, it says: The company file has been upgraded to the latest version of QuickBooks Desktop. To access the company file, contact your system admin to upgrade your QuickBooks to the latest version.

When I go into QuickBooks under Help - Update QuickBooks Desktop - Update Now, I have everything updated. See attachments for this issue. I don't understand why this isn't working even though I have the latest update.

Quickbooks Update

I appreciate the efforts you've made to resolve the issues with your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), dswenson1. To address this, please ensure that your company file and QuickBooks software are aligned with the same version. I'm here to guide you through this process and help you access your company file successfully.

To begin, please know that updating your QuickBooks means downloading and installing the latest improvements and fixes for your current software version, without changing the actual version. On the other hand, upgrading QuickBooks means transitioning from an older version to a newer version of the application.

If you've already updated your QBDT and are still facing issues with your company file, this may be due to a version compatibility problem. The error messages occur when an older company file is opened with a newer QuickBooks application. To address this, we need to upgrade your company file to align with your upgraded QuickBooks version.

Let’s start by verifying your QuickBooks version:

  1. Open the original version of QuickBooks and find the company file you want to update.
  2. Press F2 to access the Product Information window.
  3. Check the File Information section and note the location where your company file is saved on your computer.

Next, follow these steps to update your company file:

  1. Ensure that all users sign out of your company file.
  2. Open your new version of QuickBooks Desktop.
  3. Head to the File menu, then select Open or Restore Company.
  4. Choose Open a company file, then Next.
  5. Locate your company file, then Open. If you can't find your company file, search it from your Windows Start menu or ensure it's not hidden.
  6. Log in to your company file as the admin user, then select Update Now.
  7. When QuickBooks finishes, select Done.

For reference, check out this article: Update your company files to a new version of QuickBooks Desktop.

Moreover, if you still encounter difficulties accessing your company file after following these steps, I recommend you contact our live support team. They have the necessary tools and expertise to examine your account securely and pinpoint the cause of these errors.

Did you know you can also work on two QBDT company files simultaneously? For more guidance on this, please check out this article: Open and use a secondary company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

Our goal is to ensure you can smoothly access your company file, dswenson1. If you need further assistance or have other concerns, please feel free to use the Reply button. We're always ready to help.
