User ID

I’m trying to change my user id to match my new email, however, it just keeps giving me the error “this user ID is already taken” even though I don’t have another account at all. Not sure why this is a problem, I’ve even tried changing my new updated email to something else but it still won’t let me change the user ID to anything.

This error occurs when the username is already in use, either by your own account or another Intuit profile, Lstones.

Since you've mentioned trying a different username without success, I recommend clearing your browser cache to allow the system to refresh and fix webpage-related issues. Using one of QuickBooks Online's supported browsers can also improve your experience.

Next, update your user ID with a unique email or username to resolve the error.

If you're using a mobile device, follow these steps to clear data:

For Android:

  1. Go to the Home menu or tap the three dots in the lower right corner.
  2. Select Settings, then choose Refresh Data.
  3. Press Yes.

For iOS:

  1. Go to Settings, then click General.
  2. Choose iPhone Storage, then tap the QuickBooks Online app.
  3. Click Offload App.
  4. This will free up the storage without deleting your app's documents and data.

If the issue persists, we can uninstall and reinstall the QuickBooks app to ensure you have the latest version. Alternatively, log in through a browser to update your user ID.
