For some reason, it appears that only when logged in as 'admin', can someone then access bank feeds.

Doesn't seem to matter their permissions or roles...

Hey there, @FJH

It's great to see you back in the Community! Let me share some details about accessing your bank feeds in QuickBooks Desktop.

Yes, you're correct. In order to access the bank feeds in your account, the user will need to be signed in as the "admin."

I can see how beneficial this could be for your business if other users would be able to gain access to this feature. With that being said, I'll submit your feedback to our Product Developers so they can consider improving user permissions and more.

As future reference, here's some guides that could help you out with bank feeds:

Tried Admin.  Interesting thing happened.  It worked for ONE of our Amex accounts but not for the other.

That is odd.

All I know is that we have been only using 'admin' login to access bank feeds to connect to AMEX and download credit card transactions without any problems.

As the 'admin', just means one extra task weekly as part of regular duty handing account sync between our PSA and QB and ConnectBooster daily.

I've got your back, @mbesso. I'm here to share additional insights about different banking modes in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

In QBDT, you have three Bank Feed modes available. Each mode displays and handles transactions in your Bank Feeds differently. Let me provide the steps so you can change between modes as often as you need.

Here's how:

  1. Go to Edit, and then select Preferences.
  2. Choose the Checking section, then go to the Company Preferences.
  3. In the Bank Feeds section, select either:
    • Advanced Mode: This uses the Transactions List window to add or match transactions. You can quickly update transactions for future matches or create rules automatically to recognize and match transactions to your books.
    • Express Mode: This uses the Transactions List window to add or match transactions. Renaming rules are created automatically.
    • Classic Mode: This uses the account register to add or match transactions. Aliases match names exactly; you control when you want to create aliases.
  4. Tap OK to save your preference.

Furthermore, see these screenshots for the layout differences between banking modes in QBDT:

Once everything's good, you can categorize your downloaded bank transactions to keep your financial data accurate and updated. Refer to this article for detailed steps: Add and match Bank Feed transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm just one click away if you have other concerns about the system's features or managing bank transactions in QBDT. Take care, and have a great day!
