Credit card beginning balance

Is the amount due the same as the beginning balance of the credit card? See attached.

Also, is the reconciliation of credit cards done every month or yearly will work too?

I can't them match as I am not sure if the beginning balance and ending balance that I'm using are correct and the ending date too.

Thanks!

Credit card beginning balance

I appreciate the screenshot you've shared, @marumir05.

I'll share information about the beginning balance when reconciling your bank account.

The beginning balance is the amount in the account at the beginning of the time period you're reviewing. And it should match what's on your bank statement for the same start day.

The most common reason why your beginning balance doesn't match your bank statement is caused by an incorrect opening balance. To get this fixed, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Make sure you know the amount you need to enter for your opening balance.
  2. Click the Gear icon, then select Chart of accounts.
  3. Select New, then set up your account.
  4. In the open balances section, pick the date you want to start tracking your finances from.
  5. Then, enter the account balance for that date.
  6. Click Save.

I'm adding this article for more guidance: Enter and manage opening balances in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you can reconcile your bank account yearly, however, it's recommended to do it every month.

Once you're good with your beginning balance, you can now proceed with reconciling your bank account. This will help make sure your QuickBooks transactions match your bank statement.

Come back to this post and let me know if you have follow-up questions about this. I'll be around to provide more information.

Credit card beginning balance

Thank you for your prompt reply, @marumir05.

Let me assist you further with identifying the beginning balance of your credit card connected to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

As per my colleague, Mark_R mentioned above, the beginning balance is the amount in the account at the beginning of the time period you’re reviewing.

However, if you are referring to the snapshot added to your initial post. Your credit card’s beginning balance is the one labeled as the Previous balance with the amount of $610.18. Additionally, the New balance of $397.28 will be your ending balance.

Moreover, you can start reconciling your account by checking out this article. It includes complete guidelines to ensure you are doing it correctly: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.
