Thank you, most appreciated!
Thanks, is there any plan by Intuit to include that functionality in QBO?
Hello, konuzulike,
Welcome back! Let me continue to help you out.
As of this writing, there isn't any plan of having an option to import journal entries. However, you can send a suggestion by clicking on the Gear icon and choosing Feedback. That way, our engineers will be aware that you want that option in QBO. The more suggestion they get, the higher the chance of getting this implemented.
Let me know if you have additional questions in mind. Take care and have a good one!
What a joke! I understand QBO in countries other than USA can import JEs. And not being able to import JEs has been a known issue for several years, so one can only conclude that Intuit and its engineers don't care about its customers' simple request.
I agree it is a joke that you can not upload a journal entry from excel. Why can't this be done this is the 21st century. It can be done on QuickBooks desktop. Just add the functionality instead of making me move to another software.

I m not sure they will add the feature in near future. If the feature is critical for your business, you should migrate to QB Desktop or another accounting app immediately and purchase a 3rd party conversion service.
looks like the feature is in now? But they don't provide a template and only say csv file can be imported.
Importing journal entries isn't available yet in the QBO US version, StickStick.
Although you can import transactions in bulk, this is only limited to deposits, checks, and payments.
Since you're using the QBO US version, you may consider using a third-party importer tool to import journal entries. I'll walk you through the steps in searching for an app within your QBO account:

We are expecting a 30% + growth this year. I absolutely have to have this functionality or I will drown in grunt-level data entry. As traumatic as a move to another vendor would be, this - by itself - is enough to make me recommend a move. Beg for a move to another company! I've asked and re-asked this for more than four years and the answer is always the same - our engineers are aware of the requests.
This makes absolutely no sense, and I don't understand how companies using ADP for payroll as an example, can use QBO if they allocate time across a broad swath of personnel. This has to be fixed and now. Or an alternative offered - I do not want to have to research 3rd parties ad infinitum for something that should be part of the standard package.
is enough to make me recommend a move.
QBO US version does not offer this feature yet and you will need to use a 3rd party tool. Switching to another accounting app is unavoidable in your case and purchasing a third party conversion service if needed.
It's nice to see you here, konuzulike.
Fiat Lux - ASIA is correct. Though importing journal entries from Excel into QuickBooks Online (QBO) isn't available, you can use a third-party application to achieve this.
There are plenty of applications or apps developed by third-party businesses that sync or integrate with your QuickBooks account. These apps can extend account functionality and provide additional services for your business.

It is completely unacceptable for a legitimate accounting software package to not offer this feature. I find the QBO model of being "bare bones" on functionality, and then requiring apps/bolt-ons to perform standard accounting tasks is so frustrating for accountant users of the system.
Intuit has a market capitalization over $100B and refuses to make simple updates to its software, for functionality that already exists in its desktop product; yet it wants users to migrate from desktop to online.
I think they rely on the fact that a move can be traumatic, especially with file storage having to be transferred as well as the numbers. Granted, that's a guess. But it is the sole reason I haven't begged for a switch.
I also think it's a non-sense that upload feature is NOT available for QBO. Or at least, they should have the copy and paste feature available so we can do multiple lines/rows at a time. A single entry per each cell at a time in 2023 is a joke!
Hi, @User987. Please know that we take your feedback seriously and will do our best to address any issues you've encountered.

The QBO UK version offers journal imports so there is no reason, beyond sheer greed, that the US version cannot.
I would put down money that QBO owns the 3rd party applications as well and just wants you to pay extra for functionality.
bro really said just do it manually
Hi,
Thank you for reaching out. Currently for US customers, this is not available, because we want to make sure our 3rd party developers can turn a profit by offering solutions to simple problems.
If you are in the UK though, you can follow these simple instructions.
Best Regards
One of the reasons I bought into the Online version was that I could import journal entries. Quickbooks online documentation states that you can import journal entries (and still does). Maybe Quickbooks shut it down so that other vendors can sell you the access for additional money. I don't know the answer. All I know is that I cannot import simple journal entries and that I now have to physically type them in (at a much greater labor cost). Anybody out there feel cheated?
And Quickbooks didn't offer me any discounts for taking away the functionality. How about everyone else? Any attorneys out there interested in starting a class action?

Which online document are you referring to?
Since this functionality exists in UK version, how can I switch to that version?
