Let me discuss the various causes why your bank might not be linking to online banking in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @LOTSM books.

To provide further assistance, could you please provide the exact error message you receive when attempting to connect? This information will help us pinpoint the issue.

Here are some reasons you might be experiencing difficulty:

  • Your bank might appear under different names in our system. It’s a good idea to check that you’re selecting the right one. You can also try searching by the bank’s sign-in URL to ensure you’re using the correct listing.
  • Your bank might not support connections for all types of accounts (for example, personal accounts versus business accounts).
  • It’s possible that your credit union might not be set up as a participating financial institution.

In the meantime, let’s double-check if your bank is supported. Here’s how you can verify:

  1. Log in to your OnPoint account on their website and copy the URL.
  2. Head back to QuickBooks and go to Transactions, then select Bank Transactions.
  3. Click on Link account, and either paste the URL or search for OnPoint Credit Union in the search field.
  4. Enter your login credentials and click Continue.
  5. Choose the account you want to connect, select the appropriate date, and click Next.
  6. From the drop-down, select the account type and then click Next.
  7. Map your bank account using the Existing Accounts drop-down, then select Next.
  8. Finally, click Connect and then select Done.

For more detailed instructions, you can check this article: Find your bank account when you connect to online banking.

If you're still facing issues, try accessing QuickBooks in an incognito window or a private browser. This can help eliminate any cached file issues that might be interfering with your connection. Also, consider using other supported browsers to see if that resolves the problem.

You can refer to this article for further guidance: Connect and add bank and credit card accounts to QuickBooks Online.

Once your transactions are downloaded, you can efficiently categorize and match them in QBO, which will help keep your books accurate.

OK, I have tried all the suggestions here and still cannot connect.  The only error message I receive is the 185 on a screen that allows to have text message sent to verify.  I do that and get a page listing only the checking and savings account.  I have talked with the bank and they indicate that the issue is on Quickbooks end.

Thanks for following through with all the steps shared above, LOTSM books. I've got additional fixes to help rectify the error received so you can seamlessly connect and manage bank entries in your account.

QuickBooks banking error 185 means your financial institution requires more information after you enter your credentials. This occurs when your bank has additional security requirements, such as security questions or one-time passcodes, for you to address.

That said, if you encounter a security question, enter the associated response. If not, you may need to utilize another supported browser or may need to disable your browser's pop-up blocker.

Additionally, if your bank requires a one-time passcode, enter the code that was sent to your device or received through text or call. Doing so will allow the verification procedure to succeed.

However, if the error persists, I recommend contacting our Customer Care Team to further verify your account and provide real-time assistance in resolving this issue.

Here's how you can reach them out:

  1. In your QBO account, click the Help icon and select Contact Us.
  2. Enter your concern and click Let's Talk.
  3. Select Start a chat or Get a callback with a support expert.

Once everything comes in handy in the future, you can utilize this guide to help you review and manage bank entries: Categorize online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

Your questions and ideas are welcome here, LOTSM. Add them to the comments, and I'll be around to assist. Take care.
