Quickbooks Checking through Green Dot back--how to deposit a check over $10,000

Hello, I'm new to Quickbooks Online and Quickbooks Checking. I went to mobile deposit my first vendor check, and found that there's a $10,000 limit per check. This check is for $12,500. I called Quickbooks and spent quite a long time on the phone with a great support person who researched and confirmed that I should be able to make the deposit (he even called Green Dot Bank to confirm). After we hung up, I tried again and it was again rejected for being over the limit. I'm at a loss. I looked to see if there's any way to deposit a check at a physical location, but there are no options. Has anyone else dealt with this issue? Thanks!!

Quickbooks Checking through Green Dot back--how to deposit a check over $10,000

Thanks for bringing this to my attention, Lizza. I've got some information about check deposit limits in QuickBooks Checking.

The average deposit limit is up to $10,000 per transaction. However, it varies depending on the customer's eligibility. Thus, it's possible that you reached the set limit for your checking account. If you want to check your deposit limits, you can view them in the mobile check deposit flow. You can refer to the image below:

On the other hand, you might consider splitting the deposit into two transactions, so you don't exceed the average limit. Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QuickBooks mobile account.
  2. Select Cash Flow.
  3. From the QuickBooks Checking homepage, select Send Money.
  4. Select Deposit checks.
  5. Enter the half of the check amount.

Here is the full article for more detailed steps in depositing checks: Use mobile check deposit with QuickBooks Checking.

Additionally, you can visit this link to learn more about the feature's frequently asked questions: Find out more about mobile check deposits.

Let us know if you have other questions about managing your check deposits or have any concerns with QuickBooks. We'll make sure we'll help you out. Have a great day!

Quickbooks Checking through Green Dot back--how to deposit a check over $10,000

Thank you for this information, @JuliaMikkaelaQ! I read through the links you shared, and I didn't find any additional information about depositing one check in two separate transactions. Before I proceed, I just want to confirm that I understand correctly. Is this accurate?

  • I can deposit one check for $12,500 in two phases simply by entering half the total into the check amount field and doing that twice.

Once you confirm that I understand correctly, I will try it.

Thanks!

Thank you for coming back to the Community, Lizza.

It can be challenging to deal with a check that exceeds the mobile deposit limit. I'm here to provide clarifications about depositing a check in QuickBooks Checking.

When you use the mobile deposit function, you can deposit one check at a time. For more insights on how the feature works, including questions to frequently asked questions, refer to the article: Find out more about mobile check deposit.

To resolve this matter, I still recommend contacting our QuickBooks Payments Support Team again for further assistance and guidance. Make sure to provide the case number from your previous call, as this will allow our specialists to review the notes and better understand your situation. Additionally, they can discuss in detail an alternative solution for depositing the amount of $12,500.

To get the support information:

  1. Open QBO and go to the Help icon in the upper right to display the support window.
  2. Head to the Assistant tab and enter a brief description of your concern in the Type something bar.
  3. Click the Get help from a human link to see more options.
  4. In the How would you like to connect with us? section, choose Chat for real-time support and Callback to speak with an agent.

I have included a reference offering comprehensive information on the most convenient time and day to get in touch with our support team: Contact Payments Support.

Quickbooks Checking through Green Dot back--how to deposit a check over $10,000

I've tried the above directions, splitting the check in half, but the app will not accept another picture of the check. Only half was deposited, what should I do to add the other half?

Were you ever able to deposit the second half of your check?  I am in the same position - my check is over $10,000 but I really need to get this deposited!

Quickbooks Checking through Green Dot back--how to deposit a check over $10,000

@wavepromos and @dprater1 Have either of you found a solution? Since posting my original question, I've spent another 45 minutes on the phone with Quickbooks payments who finally just told me there's no solution and I need to request that my client re-issue the check in two parts. I was told it isn't possible to request an increase to the check deposit limit.

Unfortunately, I had to open another business checking account. I hope QB/Green Dot will resolve this for future QB Checking users... it's a significant barrier to marketability of the product.
