Hello @gbarn,

Thanks for dropping by here in the Community. I'm here to help you fix the error message about the QuickBooks Web Connector.

The QBWC1085 error usually happens to users using the Desktop (QBDT) version of QuickBooks. It may be possible that QuickBooks Web Connector is installed on your computer.

This application is used to connect the program to web-based programs (third-party apps). However, I've checked your post and the product attached to it is QuickBooks Self-Employed.

If you have QBDT, I recommend performing the suggested troubleshooting steps. If QuickBooks isn't connected to any third-party programs, it would be best to remove Web Connector from the Startup menu.

Here's how:

  1. Log in as Windows administrator.
  2. Go to C:\ProgramData\ Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.
  3. Delete the QuickBooks Web Connector.
  4. Restart the computer and open QuickBooks.

If you have connected your data file to a third-party application that uses Web Connector, then you would want Web Connector to stay in the Startup menu. In this situation you can rename the QWCLOG.TXT file to resolve the error.

Please follow these steps:

  1. Close completely out of QuickBooks and Web Connector.
  2. Go to: C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QBWebConnector\log.
  3. Rename the QWCLOG.TXT to QWCLOGOLD.TXT.
  4. Reopen Web Connector.
  5. Restart the computer then open QuickBooks and login to your third-party application.

In case the problem persists, please leave a comment below. I suggest adding more details about the product you have, as well as some screenshots of the error.

Additionally, I recommend visiting the following article to help you choose the Schedule C categories for your transactions in QuickBooks: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Hi @AlcaeusF,

We are also seeing this error. I've tried renaming the log file, as suggested, but the error still comes up.

Is there anything else we may try?
