I know it's important to import the journal entries, konuzulike. I'm here to share some insights about this.

As of now, the option to import your journal entry to QuickBooks Online is unavailable. As a workaround, I'd suggest manually creating the transactions in the program.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the + New menu.
  2. Select Journal entry.
  3. Enter all necessary details needed.
  4. Once done, click Save and new or Save and close.

You may also consider using a third-party tool to import your journal entries. To do this, I'd recommend our QuickBooks Apps article. There, you can find an app that suits your business needs.

Additionally, I've included an article that'll help you stay informed about importing data to QuickBooks Online: What Information can I Import?.

I'm only a few clicks away if you need assistance with your other QuickBooks tasks, konuzulike. It's always my pleasure to help you out again.

You have to use a 3rd party importer tool to do so.

Thanks, is there any plan by Intuit to include that functionality in QBO?

We are expecting a 30% + growth this year.  I absolutely have to have this functionality or I will drown in grunt-level data entry.  As traumatic as a move to another vendor would be, this - by itself - is enough to make me recommend a move.  Beg for a move to another company!  I've asked and re-asked this for more than four years and the answer is always the same - our engineers are aware of the requests.

This makes absolutely no sense, and I don't understand how companies using ADP for payroll as an example, can use QBO if they allocate time across a broad swath of personnel.  This has to be fixed and now.  Or an alternative offered - I do not want to have to research 3rd parties ad infinitum for something that should be part of the standard package.

@creed1

is enough to make me recommend a move.

QBO US version does not offer this feature yet and you will need to use a 3rd party tool. Switching to another accounting app is unavoidable in your case and purchasing a third party conversion service if needed.

I also think it's a non-sense that upload feature is NOT available for QBO.  Or at least, they should have the copy and paste feature available so we can do multiple lines/rows at a time.  A single entry per each cell at a time in 2023 is a joke!

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out.  Currently for US customers, this is not available, because we want to make sure our 3rd party developers can turn a profit by offering solutions to simple problems.

If you are in the UK though, you can follow these simple instructions.

I'll add in my frustration as well. I've used QBO for a number of years and definitely miss some of the basic features you get with QBD, but I moved forward. I'm now implementing QBO for a new company as a stop-gap measure while I look for a more robust system. Needless to say, I have quite a few journal entries to get in, and to maintain going forward.  Extremely disappointed that importing isn't a feature, particularly since this thread started 2 years ago. As others have stated, it appears that Intuit has no plans to include this very basic feature.

@yebcpa

You can still use QB Desktop.

I'm migrating from MIP to QBO.  But, I have thoight about QBD as an option, but considering this is intended to be temporary,, and using QBD would require hosting (extra $$), it's not a real option right now.
