Question

Manual transaction download

I can download my bank transactions into QBO files.  However, when I try to import them, I get a message that says:

"QuickBooks is unable to verify the Financial Institution information for this download."

I have a copy of a QuickBooks bank ID list, but my bank is not in the list.  How do I get it there? Do I contact QuickBooks support or the bank?

Any help is greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

If the bank is creating the QBO file properly it should work.

What version of QuickBooks are you using?

Just updated to 2023... Same result...

I'm sure the problem is that the bank isn't in the list of currently supported banks in QuickBooks...  I had a similar issue with another client using TD Bank and all I have to do is change the Bank ID in the QBO file for it to work properly... This is a little town co-operative bank...

I just performed an experiment...  I opened the QBO file with notepad and changed the line:

<INTU.BID>17826   to    <INTU.BID>3000

I know that Bank ID 3000 is Wells Fargo - worked great, but now it says the bank is Wells Fargo

This proves my theory that the QBO file is fine except that the Bank ID for Wrentham Cooperative is not in the list of accepted Bank IDs for QuickBooks.

How can I get it added to the list?

Hello,  ckshea13.

I'd like to shed light on Wrentham's availability for the Bank Feeds feature.

To clarify, it looks like Wrentham Cooperative Bank isn't on the list of our supported banks. I also tried searching for it with the Direct Connect process and I wasn't able to find it (looked it up using QuickBooks Premier 2023):

I also checked further and it looks like Wrentham Cooperative Bank is only available for QuickBooks Online connection.

I'd like to address the part about adding Wrentham's bank ID.

It's up to the bank if they want to participate to be one of our partnered banks for the Bank Feeds feature.

To add the bank ID to the list, we'll want to get in touch with Wrentham Cooperative Bank. We would want to file a request to have them participate as a partner (for QuickBooks Desktop connection).

They'll work with our team handling the Bank Feeds feature and add the Bank ID. For transparency, the bank has the final say and initiative if they want to push for the connection.

I take it that you're able to import the transactions using your workaround. In this case, we can start categorizing them within QuickBooks Desktop.

If you need to reconcile your transactions from your Wrentham account in the near future, I'll add this article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Desktop

I'm willing to hear you out if you have questions about managing your bank transactions. Do you have questions with other entries or reports? Add the details here and I'll lend a hand.
