Error 6000 typically occurs when there is a problem opening a company file in QuickBooks Desktop, Srividhya. I'll guide you in getting rid of it.

This error can arise in both local and network setups, and its specific cause often depends on the number of extensions that follow the error code (e.g., -6000 series errors). You can find detailed explanations of various -6000 errors, along with troubleshooting steps, in this article: Fix error -6000 when opening a company file.

Meanwhile, Bank Error 185 occurs in QuickBooks Online and indicates that your financial institution requires additional security verification or action from you. For a detailed guide, you can refer to this article: Fix bank error 185

@rajivjain

QB Desktop 2008 is too old. You can't upgrade your file directly in one jump to 2024. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA directly via email for assistance.

Error 6000 is a QuickBooks Desktop company file error that means QuickBooks can’t open or properly access the company file. It’s usually caused by file corruption, permission issues, or problems with the file location (network drive, external drive, or cloud-synced folder). Even though you were fixing Error 185 (a bank login/connection issue), QuickBooks still has to access the company file during bank updates, and that process can trigger a 6000-series error if the file has underlying issues.

In most cases, this is resolved by moving the file to a local folder, renaming the .ND and .TLG files, and running Verify/Rebuild Data. If the error keeps coming back or the file won’t open consistently, it points to logical corruption in the company file. At that stage, users either restore a clean backup or attempt a file repair on a copy of the file using a third party repair tool like Stellar Repair for QuickBooks, since bank errors can surface deeper file problems.
