It's a pleasure to have you here, @royalhkopel. Let's work this out so you can create and run new payroll for your employees inside QuickBooks Online (QBO) company.

Before anything else, may I know if you can change the Pay period and Pay date when running payroll in QBO? If so, know that you'll have to choose a different schedule for the Pay period and Pay date to create and run a new payroll.

I'll gladly input the process below to get you started. These are the steps:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. Go to the Payroll menu, then select Employees.
  3. Select Run Payroll, and then choose your desired payroll schedule, then Continue.
  4. Click or review the QuickBooks Bank account to track your payroll, the Pay period and Pay date.
  5. Select the employees you'd like to pay.
  6. Enter hours, compensation, memos, or any other necessary paycheck info. If you use QuickBooks Time select Review Approved Time.
  7. Press Preview payroll, and then select Preview payroll details or Submit payroll.
  8. Click Finish payroll.

For further details, please check this page: Create and run your payroll.

In case the option to change the Pay period and the Pay date is greyed out, you can perform basic troubleshooting. This way, you can access your QBO with a clean slate. To begin, access your company in an incognito or private browser. Use these shortcut keys:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari 11 or newer: + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P

Once everything is ready, create and run payroll again. If you're able to get through, go back to your main browser and clear the cache if it is now showing correctly. You can also use other supported browsers as an alternative except for Internet Explorer.

In addition, here's an article about generating reports inside QBO: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

Also, if you got time to spare, you can check this page to learn how you can let your employees view their paystubs: Invite your employees to QuickBooks Workforce to see pay stubs, W-2s and more if you use QuickBooks ....

@royalhkopel, I'm here if you need further assistance getting through this. Also if you need help performing specific tasks inside your company, feel free to post here again. I've got you covered. Stay safe, and have a nice day!
