Enter CA Wage plan code without payroll setup

How do you enter a CA wage plan code without having to go into Payroll Setup (which requires an Admin login) every time? Is there way to set a default code and have it applied every time we add an employee? I know that there is away override this when doing the tax forms, but there has to be some way to deal with this. Right now someone adds an employee and can set up everything required except this one field.

Thanks.

It's a pleasure to have you here today, @dt126a. We'll share details about entering the CA wage plan inside QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Before we dig deeper into your query, please know that we understand the urgency of this matter. Upon checking here on our system, please know that only the admin user has the option or access to that section and enters the CA wage plan. That said, you'll need to get in touch with the company file admin so they can help you complete the process and enter the plan through the payroll setup. You can check this page for more details: Assign California wage plan codes in QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

In addition, here are some articles to help you keep track of your payroll activities and ensure every data you entered inside the company file is accurate:

I can input the data, I am the admin. However, I don't think it's reasonable to expect someone to get in touch with the admin to go into PR setup just to input one field every single time we add an employee. There isn't any way to make the setting a default as 100% of our employees have the same letter code for this field.

I am an administrator. Is there a way to set up all employees with the same wage code without going through every employee? We have been in business for over 20 years and have so many inactive employees.  This is taking so much time to do it in payroll setup.

Hey there, tbreeden1. I can provide insights about the CA Wage plan code management in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Please note that the option to configure all employees with the same CA wage plan code is currently unavailable in QBDT. You'll have to set it up individually within the program.

I suggest sending a feature request to our software engineers. They may consider adding your suggestion in the upcoming product updates.

To submit a feedback:

  1. Select the Help option, then click the Send Feedback Online option.
  2. Hit the Select the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window appears.
  3. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  4. Click the Send Feedback button.

Moreover, you can run payroll reports to track your payroll totals, including employee taxes and contributions.

You can count on me around the clock if there's anything else you need to know about wage plan code or other payroll-related queries. Hit the Reply button below.
