I can't even get past the install wizard.
See attached screenshot.
My solid state C: drive has 139 gb of free space. I am running Windows 10 64 bit.
The suggestion offered on the support site to modify a file in the temp folder won't work because I can't get far enough in the installation process for that file to be created.
Please help me!
Thanks very much, Frank

Hi there, frankfelker and vst,
Let's get your concern taken care of so you can install QuickBooks Desktop on the computer.
The first thing we need to check is ensure the computer meets or exceeds the minimum system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop. I've added this article to guide you through: QuickBooks Desktop system requirements
Since you're not able to install the software even if the hard drive has enough memory, I'd recommend getting in contact with our Installation Team. They have additional tools, such as screen sharing, to look up the computer and software for possible reasons why the error message appears.
Here's how to get a specialist from our Installation Team:
You can always reach out to me if you have additional concerns about installing QuickBooks.
I have the same issue

I have the same problem. I have over 300GB available on my drive but a warning comes up that says "There is not enough room on drive C:/ to extract this package". -Tim
Hi there, Tim.
Thanks for dropping by here in the Community. Let's work together and fix the error you're seeing.
As mentioned by my colleague MichelleT above, we first have to ensure your computer meets or exceeds the system requirements for QuickBooks Desktop. You can see the detailed information in this article:
QuickBooks Desktop system requirements
Since you have over 300GB available space on your drive, let's try to set up folder and access permissions. Then, clear the memory by deleting files from the %temp% folder. These processes help empty the storag and fix some installation errors.
To set up folder and access permissions:
To delete files from the %temp% folder:
For more details, check out this article:
There is not enough space or Your system only has xxxMB of memory when installing QuickBooks Desktop
These steps should generally help rectify the error you're encountering.
Be sure to update me here on the results of your testing, I want to ensure this matter gets resolved.
None of these suggestions worked for me. I was able to extract the files from the QuickBooksPro2019.exe file using 7-Zip, then successfully ran the Setup.exe file from the extracted files.

I also tried everything that Intuit says should work, with no joy. Brand new Win10 computer, clean install, 350+ Gigabytes of free space on the C: drive.
Downloaded 7-zip, extracted the files, and it installed no problem.
Intuit, you have a problem with your installer that no amount of "deleting temp files" is going to fix.
Thanks for joining this thread, BuffaloGapCamp.

As was previously mentioned (and ignored), this error was occurring when users had 100's of GB free, so clearing out temp files wasn't going to help.
Suggesting a paid call to Quickbooks to resolve the issue is certainly an option, but it's not really support. Just trying to charge us for a solution a problem that Intuit has and should resolve.
Like another user here, I found that opening the file with the free 7-Zip program allowed me to install QB.
Shouldn't have been necessary, but thanks to the user that posted it.
And shame on QB for using this as an opportunity to steal money from its users. Like many others, I hold my nose and buy this product, mainly because my bookkeeper likes it.

I had the same problem and saw where different ones were using 7 zip to solve the problem but since Intuit discouraged the use of that and other 3rd party programs I decided not to do it. Instead I called tech support and after almost 4 hours of troubleshooting guess what they did....they downloaded 7 zip and within minutes the problem was solved. So do not waste your time calling tech support just download 7 zip.
This is ridiculous. Quickbooks turns off the ability to download bank transactions in a blatant grab to extort money out of you when you have a perfectly functioning program that you already paid for. After being forced to pay for the 2020 version, they don't even have the decency to ensure that the program will install without resorting to third party apps to get it installed. Typical Quickbooks quality. I wish there was something better....
I too downloaded 7 zip and had the file installed in minutes. Thanks for nothing Quicken IT!
ABSOLUTELY! I was having this issue and was about to give up hope. But the 2 mentions of downloading 7-Zip worked! I have it up and running! Thanks!
Crazy to have an error message that is false. When there is clearly error room on C:\, why have an error that claims there is not enough room on Drive C:\
This is hilarious. Same issue every year. Same dumb answers. Plenty of space. Still get this error message. Have to call in EVERY year for a good 10 years. There is a trick. I will finally writ it down and keepit somewhere this year. I assumed you fix it.
Thank you for this approach - it seems to be working for me. I really don't think it should be necessary - Windows Installer technology has been around for 40 years. I am especially disappointed in the responses of the Intuit "specialists", who clearly don't have a clue how their own software work (or doesn't, in this case).
Same issue for the 2023 version. C: Drive has 915GB of free space with a "not enough space" error. The 7-zip method works and is a quick fix. I assume any zip extraction program will work.
Intuit still has this problem with the installer 12/06/2022. Extract with 7zip and then install.
Wow - it's almost five years later and QB hasn't fixed this bug. I can't install 2023 on any of the machines at my office (16), despite the thousands of dollars we spent on the software. I don't have three hours to sit on hold with an untrained support person (who will more likely than not hang up on me). I can't believe they refuse to acknowledge these problems. Does anyone have a recommendation for accounting software that treats its customers with respect? 'Cuz Intuit sure hates us.
i would say those "Specialists" are AI bots.
Hey maybe don't mark this as the solutions when 7-Zip extracts the files and fixes it. This problem still persists in 2023 QuickBooks as well.
I tried Quickbooks tech support and they couldn't figure it out. A friend suggested loading the update file on an external backup drive. It installed perfectly on my c drive that was
This is still an issue even with 2023. Thankfully, I found this thread, because this is working. (I'm in the middle of installing it right now. T'would be nice if the extraction issue was solved though. And it would be great if more QB Support reps knew about this - my client (whom I'm doing this for) spent time working with Support last night, and evidently they didn't know about this solution either.
I was able to do it using the extractor method, for a client, this morning. Don't know why they still have a problem with this, but this solution works fine. Just download 7 Zip (it's free) and extract the files. Then launch setup.exe from there.
