I'm here to help you fix Error 15103 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @smith2011.

This error code pops up when updating QBDT or downloading the latest tax table update. There are several reasons this can happen, including:

  • The Shared Download drive wasn't mapped correctly
  • A missing file or component for payroll updates
  • Damaged windows files
  • A firewall setting that can block payroll updates in QBDT
  • QB File Copy Service (FCS) is disabled
  • Unable to verify digital signatures

Before troubleshooting, you can check your firewall and internet security settings. Then, you can download the updates as an administrator by following these steps:

  1. Close your company files and QBDT.
  2. Right-click on the QBDT icon, then choose Run as Administrator.
  3. Click Yes on the message that asks, "Do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?"
  4. Download the newest QuickBooks Desktop product updates or the latest payroll tax table update again.

If the issue persists, visit this article for other available solutions: Fix error 15XXX when updating QuickBooks Desktop or QuickBooks Desktop Payroll.

In case you want to learn about the latest updates to QBDT 2024 and Enterprise 24.0, you can check out this article: Release notes for QuickBooks Desktop 2024.

I'm still ready to back you up if you have any other concerns besides fixing Error 15103. Feel free to leave a comment on this thread. Have a great day!

I am having this error as well when updating and to make it worse QuickBooks will not even let me into my company file until I update the program.  Have been doing IT for 40 years so technical terms and processes don't scare me.  I have done all the steps, file doctor, opening the firewall wide open (even tried turning off the firewall) .  In checking the security certificate of QBW.exe, it says the certificate expired on March 21, 2025.  How do I update the expiry date of the security certificate (if that is even the problem)?

Thanks in advance.
