How do I setup multi-factor authentication? I cannot find the security settings in QuickbBooks Online to register a new device.

Hi thedialoggroup,

QuickBooks Online has a Two-step verification setting that forces Multi-Factor Authentication to a specific step on every log-in attempt.

Here's how to enable it:

  1. Log in to your Intuit Online Account.
  2. Click the Security tab.
  3. Select Turn On to expand the Two-step verification section. You will be prompted to enter a phone number if you initially did not enter it during the setup of your account. Enter the number you want to use to verify the account and select Turn on text message verification.
  4. Choose to receive the one-time pass code by either text message or voice message and select Turn On.
  5. Enter the one-time pass code you received and select Continue.

If you have further concerns, just hit the Reply button anytime.

Hi, can you also allow an option to use an authenticator (like Microsoft authenticator) rather than emailed or texted one time passwords?

Thank you,

Sal

Thanks for joining this thread, Sal Singapore.

I understand that you want to integrate QuickBooks Online into third-party software. You'll want to reach out to Microsoft Authenticator's support or to other authenticators you'll want to use so they can assist on how to set it up.

If you want to look for more compatible third-party apps, visit the QuickBooks App Store.
