I currently run Quickbooks Pro 2009 on my laptop (Windows 7). I need to replace my computer soon and have read that Windows 10 does not support QB2009. If this is true and I have to purchase a newer version, how can i transfer my company database to the new computer?
Solved! Go to Solution.
It's true, Windows 10 is compatible only with QB 2015 and later, you should opt for 2017 and get the extra 2 years of support.
It is best to "step up" the conversion, e.g., from 2009 to 2012 to 2015 to 2017, to avoid problems with your file. If you cannot do that, you can try the conversion yourself and if you have problems ask Intuit for help; they should do it for no extra fee.
Install 2017 on the new computer. On the old one, run Verify, then Rebuild, the Backup. Save the backup to a flash drive. On the new computer, copy from the flash drive to your hard drive. In 2017, click File > Open or Restore > Restore backup.

Yes you can install Quickbooks 2009 on Windows 10. Just download and install .NET 2 and .NETFX64.exe from Microsoft or from your original disc. I have QB2009 running on a fresh install of Win 10 Pro 1709.
Hello,
Follow up question to your reply.
If I want to follow the step up, how do I get license numbers for the intermediate versions? i.e. I can download QB2012 and QB 2015, but not install due to lack of license info. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Burny
Update: I was able to load a backup Copy of my QB 2009 company without any issues into Quickbooks 2019.

I added the DotNet 2 via control panel and installed Quickbooks Premier 2010 with no issues.
I had disallowed the main QB program in the firewall, but it went to the intuit site to activate so whatever. Life is good again.
As you know QBooks 2010, when installing it, tries to install Flash Player 10 and Windows 10 rejects or prevents Flash Player 10 from being installed. At that point, the QBooks 2010 installation stops and is cancelled. How did you manage to install Flash Player 10 so QBooks 2010 can be installed in Windows 10? Please help and thank you.
Try install it on compatibility mode Win 7
Can you help me get my version to install on windows 10? Every time the installer gets to flash, it quits.
