How do I add my iphone to quickbooks for scanning?
Hello there, @zamboknee.
I’m happy you turned to the Online Community about the barcode scanning feature. Allow me to provide some information about this.
The barcode scanning for inventory management is already available in QuickBooks Desktop.
If you need to set up and use this feature, you can go through this article for the detailed steps: Use barcode scanning.
If you would like the receipt for a purchase, you can go through this article for the detailed steps: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Enterprise.
While you can't use this feature in QuickBooks Online, you can visit the Intuit Apps center and search for available apps to scan your inventory.
Thanks for reaching out to us here in the Intuit Community. If there's anything else I can help you with, please let me know. I'm always glad to help.
To clarify, I meant to scan in an image (paid check, etc.) as an attachment to an invoice.
Hi there, zamboknee.
I appreciate you coming back to the thread to add more clarification about scanning an image as an attachment to an invoice.
Using the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app or your computer, you can upload your receipts to QuickBooks Desktop. QuickBooks will pull the information from the receipt and match it with an existing transaction. Then, you can review and approve the match.
To start with, add your receipts to QuickBooks Desktop. Then, please ensure that you'll not include any sensitive information like credit card numbers, social security numbers, or health information. Since you're using iPhone, QuickBooks Desktop supports PDFs and images with JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. If you utilize a newer iPhone or iPad, you might have HEIC format images. Here’s how to convert existing images to a compatible format. Then, if you haven’t already, download the QuickBooks Desktop iOS app.
For additional information, you can click this article: Upload receipts to QuickBooks Desktop Pro Plus, Premier Plus or Enterprise.
Please refer to this article to view different details on how you can Set up and use QuickBooks Scan Manager to scan receipts and documents, then attach them to your transactions: QuickBooks Scan Manager: Scan and attach documents to transactions.
Please don't hesitate to tag me in the comment section below if you have other concerns or questions. I'd be happy to lend a helping hand. Stay safe and have a nice day ahead.
QB Mac iPhone scanning works with Apple's Continuity feature. You have to be logged into the same AppleID on the Mac and the iPhone and there are a couple other requirements:

Once you have it set up, open the attachment pop up (paper clip on invoices, etc) and click on the + button on the bottom left. You'll see Import From iPhone in the menu that appears. Choose scan or photo import then take the picture with your phone.
So I need to have the quickbooks app first?
Thank you for the follow-up questions, zamboknee. I'm here to share with you some additional information about scanning receipts for QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac.
You don't need to download the QuickBooks Desktop iOs app to scan and upload your receipts to QBDT for Mac. At this time, I recommend checking out the response provided by IntuitBrooks for the detailed process on how you can use your iPhone for scanning your receipts.
You can also check out this link for more information: Use Continuity Camera on your Mac.
Aside from adding attachments to your transactions, you can also check out this article for more hints about handling your bank transactions in QBDT for Mac: Add, match and manage your bank transactions in QuickBooks.
If you have any other questions about app scanning using your iPhone, let me know by adding a comment below. I'm always here to help. Have a good one!
