Batch Upgrade issues Desktop Accountant 2020

I am upgrading over 100 files from Desktop Accountant 2013 to Desktop Accountant 2020. Every time I try a batch upgrade for even 2 files I get the following error message:
"Correct the username/password in the vault and then try upgrading the file again"

I have tried both password options in the vault: "Use the same..." and "Provide unique..."
My old files either have no password or a password that does not conform to the new requirements. If I have to go into my old files to change the passwords before I convert the file, I may as well just convert them individually. The new file manager won't accept the old non-confirming passwords in the "use the same..." option. When I try the "Provide unique..." option, the program does not prompt me for a password. It just says it was an unsuccessful attempt to convert with the error message above.

I also have file manager 2013. If there is a way to re-set things there that would allow the upgrade, I would be happy to try it.

Thank you for posting here in Community @RZOBill,

The new updated QuickBooks Desktop version is required a login credentials. Setting a password is necessary to ensure that only authorized users can access your data. If your old files don't have a password, you can open the file and set a password on it before upgrading. The resetter tool can be used if the is already have an existing username and a password.

The same reason that the QuickBooks File Manager won't accept the password it is because the file doesn't have an existing username and password yet. Follow these steps on how to set up the administrator and user password.

  1. Go to the Company menu.
  2. Select the Set up Users and Passwords tab and then Set Up Users.
  3. In the User List window, select Admin and click Edit User.
  4. Enter the name of the administrator.
  5. Click the Challenge Question drop-down arrow, choose a question, and then enter an answer in the Challenge Answer field.
  6. Click Next and then Finish.
