Company setup

I have just signed a new client. They want to use QBO. The client has several small, simple businesses. Is there a way to set them up under one QBO subscription?

One QBO account is for one company file. You can utilize the class tracking feature in QBO Plus or Advanced to manage branches/divisions.

Another option, purchase a one time license for QB Desktop 2021 to manage multi company files. Setup a simple private cloud solution if required.

Company setup

Hello there, @VikingFin. I'm joining here to share additional details.

We can have multiple company files under the same QuickBooks Online account. We can view their company files with the same sign-in info, which requires a separate paid subscription. With that, setting up their small businesses under one subscription is not an option.

We can follow these steps to add a new QBO company:

  1. Go to this link: QuickBooks Plan.
  2. Select your region.
  3. Choose your new QBO plan.
  4. Click Add another company.
  5. Enter your existing Intuit login credentials.
  6. Follow the prompts to complete the signup process.

After we create more companies, QuickBooks will ask you which company file to open after you login in. We can go to the Gear icon and select Switch company to change between the companies you created. Here's a sample screenshot for additional reference:

As Fiat Lux - ASIA mentioned, we can use one account for them and set up classes for their small business. Please note this feature is only available for QuickBooks Online Plus and Advanced users. Check out this article for more details: Get started with class tracking in QuickBooks Online.
