Join nowI want to add the sales order number to a customer credit memo for proper tracking of customer activity, but the SO # field is not an option on the credit memo template like it is on the customer invoice template. How do I solve this other than using a custom field?
You can use the Other field in the Credit memo template, Michael R.
Aside from customizing or adding a field, you can check the Other box under the Additional Customization window. You can either add the sales order number in the in the Header or Column section.
The Item Description and Memo fields on the credit memo is also helpful in tracking sales order number in a credit memo. When you run a sales report with items, you can add the Item Description and Memo columns. I have screenshots below for your reference where to enter the S.O number on the said fields and how to add these columns to a report.
As an example on how to add them on the columns, let's run the Sales by Item Detail report:
Either of the ways on how to add a field for a sales order number, you'll have to manually enter, I also sent a product feedback to our engineers about this suggestion.

Does not completely solve the issue because when I extract the data, I now have to match different fields in the data to get the correct result instead of using a single field to aggregate the data.
The memo field on SOs and Invoices already has data providing the history from estimate to sales order to invoice.
Good morning,
How do you remove the memo and footer from a credit memo? It appears that what is on the invoice automatically prints on the credit memo as well. We have a footer and memo on the invoice but do not want the footer or memo on the credit memo.
Thank you.
