Intuits My Time App

I am using QB for Mac 2016 and have been for several years without any issues.  I recently went into the Employees tab and went to the "Download My Time" button to see what that integration was all about.  I was able to download and install the program on my Mac running 10.14.6 (Mojave) and when it went to the setup screen it says It can not find the company file.

Screen Shot 2021-03-03 at 10.13.30 AM.png

I reached out to support and they keep pointing me to mytime.com saying they need to help me and when I did mytime.com says they are a scheduling company not a time tracking company.  After reviwing the My Time App I see it is an Intuit product and apparently no one in support knows how to support it.

Screen Shot 2021-03-03 at 10.59.08 AM.png

I am hoping someone here can shed some light on the situation.  I would like to get this working as I have been manually entering this in and would like to see how this program works.

FYI I have tried

  • rebooting the computer.
  • closing and opening my company file
  • closing my company file and opening a sample file (my Time doesn't see that file either)
  • verifying the company data file

Thanks for any help.

Hey there, @Bgerber4

Thanks for reaching out to the Community for support. I'm happy to provide some insight into the My Time app.

Some users have found it helpful to uninstall the My time app version 1.1.f439. Once the My Time app has been uninstalled, you can download the new version of My Time which is 1.2.0.44. Grab the download of the new version here: Get your free My Time v1.2.x download. From there, you'll need to close QuickBooks and save a Backup. Once you've closed and saved a backup, Reopen QuickBooks and open My Time.

That should do it! Please let me know if you have further questions. I'm always around to lend a hand. You can reach out to the Community at any time. Take care!

Thank you for getting back, @Bgerber4.

Yes, Intuit My Time App is compatible with macOS 10.15 Catalina. The QuickBooks Mac version in use must be at least 2019 or 2020 to use My Time on Catalina. In your case, you can consider upgrading your Mac operating system.

  1. Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu, then click Software Update to check for updates.
  2. If any updates are available, click the Update Now button to install them.

For more information about this app, you can check out these articles:

You can also download our QuickBooks Desktop for Mac User's Guide for more tips and resources while working with QuickBooks in the future.

Unfortunately my answer was I could not continue to use QB 2016 and needed to purchase QB 2020 in order for my time to work.  I did not need to upgrade my OSX (as there are other reasons it is not updated.

Once I tested the trial version of 2020 I was able to see Intuit My Time in action and was able to see that it is a great app for my use.  Because I liked that app so much and needed to change time tracking software I did pay for the upgrade to 2020.

Thought this was the solution to the problems I am having with My Time. Unfortunately, the download button for 1.2 is not working and the Mac won't open the other version because it cannot scan it.

Can anyone here update me on the current compatibility of MyTime v1.2 with Mac OS 12 (Monterey).

Last comment was from Sept 2021 that said it was compatible with OS10.15 Catalina.  I am currently running Monterey OS12 and Quickbooks for Mac 2019 and have had no luck with MyTime v1.2.   It worked on my former OS with QB for mac 2019.

I find very little information online about MyTime.  Is it no longer supported?  Is there an alternative?  What are QB for Mac users doing for time tracking needs beyond what is included in QB?

Thank you.

I’ve got some information for you, @InsightMC.

The Mac OS version of Monterey is only compatible with the higher QuickBooks Desktop for Mac versions. If you want to download the My Time feature, you may consider upgrading to a higher one.

You can also set up time tracking and use the timesheets option in QuickBooks as an alternative. Just follow the outlined steps below.

  1. Go to QuickBooks, then select Preferences.
  2. Click Time Tracking and select the “Keep Track of Time” option.
  3. Select the first day of your workweek from the First Day of Work Week list.

Check out this article to learn more about using time tracking: Enter the timesheet in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac. It includes steps on how to create single activity and weekly timesheet.

Thank you.  My issue is not with the QB version, it is with the My Time app.  I want to know if My Time is compatible with Mac OS Monterey.

The native time tracking within quickbooks itself is not enough for my needs.  I need a time clock-clock in, clock out and bill to specific job.

The latest version is compatible with Monterey.  I don't know if the latest version is compatible with QB Mac versions earlier than 2022 - download it and see before moving to Monterey (didn't read the entire thread here)

Intuits My Time App

Hello, I am unable to "connect" my My Time app to my QuickBooks upgrade and wanted to know if I'm missing something.

I have been using QB Desktop for Mac and the My Time app for several years without issue. I recently updated to QB for Mac Desktop 2022 and when I try to send my time to QuickBooks I get an error message that states "Please start QuickBooks and try again. You need to start QuickBooks to update your lists and submit time." The file IS open but it is unable to see it. Any suggestions?

I am running:

QuickBooks Mac Plus 2022 - Desktop v. 21.0.4 R5

MacOS Monterey v. 12.3.1

Intuit My Time v. 1.2.0.444

I appreciate any help, thank you!

Intuits My Time App

Greetings I am using QB desktop,(not the online version) on my Macbook pro running Big Sur and I just updated QB to Quickbooks Desktop Mac 2020 Version V19.1.12R13 and when I went to sent Mytime data it says I need to update my Quickbooks which I checked and it is up to date.  The Mytime is Version 1.1f439.  I checked for Mytime updates and it says I am up to date but I think that is not correct.  I am nervous about uninstalling and reinstalling Mytime and losing billable hours.  I have it backed up and I took a screenshot of the hours. Your thoughts please?

I have done everything that has been suggested and am still not able to connect My Time to QuickBooks. Here are the versions I have:

QuickBooks Desktop Mac 2020 19.1.12.1048 R13

My Time 1.3.0.472 R16

macOS Monterey 12.4 (21F79)

Launching My Time gives the dialog box to select QuickBooks but won't let me do that. Launching My Time tracking directly from QuickBooks does nothing. Attempting to connect to an existing time back up also does nothing--no response from My Time at all. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, redownloaded, restarted. Nothing is working.

Intuits My Time App

Hi @beezdezines and @Siriously.

For you, @beezdezines, I can see that you're running a newer version of QuickBooks Desktop for Mac Plus 2022 with the v. 21.0.4 R5 to a Mac OSX 12.3.1 (Monterey). However, you're running an outdated version of Intuit My Time 1.2.0.444 that isn't compatible with your QBDT for Mac and OSX.

In this case, I recommend creating a backup (ending in .imt) and uninstalling your current My Time version. Then download and install this more updated compatible version (My Time v1.3.x) to your QuickBooks for Mac 2022 and Mac OSX (Monterey) 12.3.1. Here's how to download it successfully:

  1. Open this link: Get your free My Time v1.3.x download.
  2. Right-click on the Download Now button, then click on the Copy link address.
  3. Paste the link on a new tab, then hit the Enter key to download the application.

For you, @Siriously, I recommend upgrading your QuickBooks version to QuickBooks Desktop for Mac 2021 version or higher to keep it compatible with your My Time 1.3.0.472 R16 and Mac OSX Monterey 12.4 (21F79) version.

If the issue persists for both of you, I recommend contacting QuickBooks Desktop for Mac support.

Please let me know how it goes. If you have other questions in mind, please place a comment below. We'll make sure to help you out. Take care and have a nice day for both of you.

Thank you for your response. I have been using it for a while now, so I must have updated the MyTime app prior because that is the version I'm currently using. Thanks for responding.

I've managed to make some progress and recovered my financial files after successfully reinstalling and updating QuickBooks. Tried the update for My Time and I'm still getting the message shown in the screen grab. Spend time with support, looked for a successful solution but came up short. They are still investigating. The attached screen grab is what I'm seeing.

There is no way to select a connection, I've tried quitting and restarting over and over. No luck.

I have also gone around with Quickbooks Tech for over 4 hours today via chat and phone. I have Quickbooks 2020 desktop for Mac. I updated it on June 23 and My Time quit sincing with Quickbooks. I have uninstalled / reinstalled Quickbooks and My Time with a tech screen sharing. Now My Time will not open the previous company file and I'm afraid I've lost of 100 billable hours for jobs that had not been invoiced yet. Quickbooks tech guy "found" a My Time website and left me there in a chat. This particular My Time app is for scheduling and has nothing to do with Quickbooks. Now the new downloaded/installed My Time will not work with my saved company file. I created a new file but it does not sinc with or recognize and customers or services from Quickbooks. I also have screenshots and email from the "My Time" they sent me to saying they are not associated with Quickbooks and are a stand alone scheduling app.

Thank you for joining the thread, @ShayneG.

I know how important it is to have the both applications work to record billable hours at ease.

I am very interested in the My Time upgrade if there is one. The link provided leads to a page that contains a link possibly to an upgrade but Mac is warning it is insecure and won't let me go there. Otherwise, the original page doesn't offer anything new. I have not heard from support yet and am still in limbo.

Thanks for keeping us updated, Siriously.

First, let's check your app preferences. It could be that something may be blocking the connection. This can be the reason why you're unable to add Intuit as a trusted site. Though this App is from intuit the security of Mac is not recognized. You'll need to lower down the security for you to install the app.

Once, you're already installed the app , you can change back the original settings and add it as trusted app or sites.

Let me share this article for more insights into this process: Adding Intuit as a trusted site.

Also, I'm adding this article to further guide you in managing your business's privacy, security, and data settings with Intuit: Data and security | QuickBooks for Mac US

If there's anything else that I can help you with, please let me know in the comment section down below. I'm always around happy to lend a helping hand.
