Invoice Read Receipt

Please someone help sort this out. I have Quickbooks Online Plus.

In my invoices, it shows that an invoice was sent, date, and time. It does not show anything from customer, opening or viewing the email/invoice.

I met with a QB Certified ProAdvisor that showed me her system, showing that customer had viewed the invoice, even each time they viewed invoice.

I spoke with QB support this morning. The agent tried to be helpful, however, their final answer was Quickbooks Online doesn't support a customer read receipt in invoices. The ProAdvisor says that is untrue.

I have created sample invoices mailing them to both my gmail and web based email accounts and opened the invoice and downloaded the invoice. When I return to QBO and look at the customer invoice, there is only the date and time the invoice was last emailed to my customer.

I need answers, please.

I appreciate your time getting back here, caywood.

I've got an idea on how to get the Activities section to show on your invoices. Let's make sure that the Online Delivery is set to Online Invoice.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear > Account and Settings.
  2. On the left panel, click Sales.
  3. Scroll down to the Online Delivery section.
  4. Select Online Invoice from the Additional email options for invoices drop-down menu.
  5. Click Save and then Done.

Please see this sample screenshot for a visual guide:

Once done, follow these steps to see the Activities section.

  1. On the left panel, click Sales Customers.
  2. Click the customer's name and open the invoice.
  3. Scroll down at the bottom of the invoice and you will see the Activities information.

Please see this sample screenshot of the Before and After updating the settings.

You can also track the status of your invoices using the app. Here's an article for more detail: Track the status of your invoices in the QuickBooks Online app.

Please let me know if this helps you see the Activities section on the invoice. I'll be around to help you until a solution is found.

I'd like to share some details and steps about your concern, caywood.

When sending invoices to your customers, make sure all of their information is correct, especially their email address. If customers are unable to find the emailed invoice, it might be added to their spam folder.

QuickBooks Online provides details if an invoice is viewed or delivered to the customers. Here's a sample screenshot of an invoice sent to an invalid email address

You'll want to ask for a different email address from your customer and try sending the invoice again. When your customer received the invoice, and they can view it, you can see the details under the Activities section of the invoice. Here's what it looks like:

I'm adding this article for reference: Create invoices in QuickBooks Online. To check for other guides and articles, please feel free to browse for a topic in our general support page.

Please keep me posted on how it goes. I'm just a few clicks away to help you some more.

Oh RenJolynC, I so so wish the solution was that simple.

I have emailed, received, opened and download the invoice to myself, it is not a wrong email address.

My invoice has no Activities section, where should that be?

In the list of Invoices, I can click on status and it shows a horizontal line of Sent......Viewed......Paid.....Deposited. My invoice remains green check marked at Sent.

Under customer name and email address in the opened invoice is the Last Delivery......information.

I need a solution. Why is my subscription to Quickbooks Online Plus not performing the tasks I am told it does. Please, more assistance.
