Migration issue....

I was specifically told by an intuit employee to continue using our desktop version while we completed the set up of payroll services, payments, and time tracking in the online version. We paid for the advanced plan that provided support through the process, even as much as intuit payroll using our old stand alone accounts and transferring employee data for us. We have completed the process and are ready to use the online version, only now I am being told by the migration team that we cannot transfer / migrate the last 12 days of business activity from the desktop version to online without having to redo the entire process. Or we have the option of manually entering in the last 2 weeks of transaction to online which is not a viable option. Nor is it an option to not be able to use online again until another 12 days has passed.

What I would like to know is if there is anyone on the intuit team that is creative enough to leave the scripted responses and help me find a solution?

This is what we call the cut-off date when converting data from QB Desktop to QB Online. It appears this info was not explained properly by Intuit Support.

You may have 2 options:

1. Use the migration tool. i.e TPExporter for Desktop and TPImporter for Online.

2. Purchase a third-party migration service. They will migrate new data from QB Desktop to your existing QB Online at the same time you use QB Online.

I appreciate you for reaching out to us, @FZ Howard. Allow me to direct you to the appropriate contact to resolve your issue about missing transactions when migrating from QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to QuickBooks Online (QBO).

We'd want to help. However, issues concerning migration must be handled by the migration team. That said, I recommend contacting them again so they can follow up on your pending case and help you retrieve the missing transactions. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu and click QuickBooks Help.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Provide a brief description of your concern, and click Continue.
  4. Log in to your Intuit account, select Continue, then Continue with my account.
  5. Enter the single-use code you received in your email and hit Continue.
  6. Choose between Chat with us or Have us call you.

It's important to note that some transactions may not be migrated to QBO completely. Therefore, you may need to enter or upload them manually to QBO.

Additionally, here's a guide to help you set up your account in QBO: Get started and adjust settings after you sign up for QuickBooks Online.

Let me know in the comments below if you have other questions about migrating from QBDT to QBO. We're always available in the Community to assist you. Take care.

Thank you.

I think for now we will be cancelling our subscription to online and renewing desktop. My hope is by the time they fully force us off the desktop they will have put some effort into creating an efficient process for migration, or a worthy competitor will be in the market.

Which QB Desktop year version did you have? You can get a cashback to renew the license thru a partner if required.
