Online backup

There's a reminder to "Open Online backup" that I cannot get to go away. I've tried opening it, opening it and backing up, turning it off to no avail. Please help.

Online backup

Hello there, lars. We can disable the feature to prevent it from appearing periodically. I'm here to guide you through the steps.

Before we begin, please note that online backup is an important layer of security to help protect your data from being lost.

To proceed with disabling process, make sure that both QuickBooks and Intuit Data Protect are updated to their most recent versions:

  1. Remove Intuit Data Protect from the Startup folder.
  2. Stop all IDP processes.
  3. Stop all IDP services.
  4. Rename the Intuit Data Protect folder.

For detailed guidance on these steps, please refer to this article: Disable Intuit Data Protect.

Should you need to enable it in the future, you can follow these instructions: Set up Intuit Data Protect to back up files.

Additionally, you can check these helpful articles about customer and vendor workflows:

Please return to this thread if you have other questions about the Online Backup in QBDT, lars. We're here to assist you the best we can.

Online backup

I don't necessarily want to get rid of the Intuit Data Protect, although I typically back up on my own anyway, I just want to get rid of the reminder in the top right hand corner that has the red box with !

You'll want to run the IDP Diagnostics tool to help address the reminder on the top right corner of QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @loilars. I'll walk you through the process, and let's sort this out.

Utilizing the IDP Diagnostics tool will conduct a deep check-up within the system and will determine possible errors on your device. Therefore, this speeds up the process of troubleshooting specific issues promptly. These are the steps:

  1. Run the IDP Diagnostic tool.
  2. Right-click the Intuit Data Protect (green padlock) icon in the Windows System Tray (typically located at the bottom right of your screen).
  3. Select About Intuit Data Protect.
  4. On your keyboard, press Ctrl+F2 to launch the Intuit Data Protect Diagnostics Tool.
  5. Select Run Diagnostics. If the Diagnostics Tool detects an issue with a firewall or third-party security software, you will need to reconfigure the software and/or hardware to allow access to Intuit Data Protect files.

On the other hand, if you want to access your company remotely, you can set them up on a server. You can refer to this page for more details: Open a company file on a remote computer.

Tap me in if you have any additional inquiries related to the program or need assistance handling tasks in QuickBooks, such as handling customer transactions or monitoring your company's standing through reports. Rest assured, I'll be here to help right away. Keep safe.
