Join nowI am running QB Desktop Premier 2021 on three Windows 10 client machines. There are two different company files hosted on a separate server machine that only hosts QB. Since the last software update, users have experience occasional H202 errors on first login or when trying to open previous company file. The only fix is to go to the server and run the Database Server Manager network scan in the QB Tool Hub. The scan never finds an issue and says everything is fine, but then the problem goes away. Has anyone experience this before? I have followed all the best practices for multi-user hosting and network connectivity.
- All machines are wired, no wireless connections
- Using local /etc/hosts files with IPs and hostnames defines so DNS lookups not required
- Windows and QB patches are applied every month
- QBWUSER file has MULTIUSER = Y set and is read-only on all machines
- Firewall is off on the server (edge firewall elsewhere)
- Anti-virus is not blocking anything
- Path to company files is UNC \\servername\fileshare
Are there logs I can review? It doesn't happen every day but when it does occur, it usually happens two or three days in a row then is fine for a week, then comes back. Any suggestions appreciated.

Welcome to the QuickBooks Community, Havox. Let's perform other troubleshooting steps so your users can get rid of the H202 error in QuickBooks Desktop.
I suggest making sure QuickBooks services are running on your server computer. Beforehand, you and the users must ensure that QuickBooks has the recent release to keep the software up-to-date to have the latest features and product improvements.
Once done, follow the steps below:
After that, launch QuickBooks on each workstation. Then, from the File menu, choose Switch to Multi-user Mode. If everything opens correctly, the problem has been resolved. If Error H202 persists, you can open this article and go to Solution 2 to fix the error: How to Fix Error H202 and H505.
Lastly, I'm adding this article if you need help fixing general problems when your company file won't open: Can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

I had already configured those settings for QuickbooksDBXX but I didn't have them on the QBCFMonitor service. I updated those settings and will monitor over the next few days.
