Qb online bill entry

Is there a way to copy a line item when entering a bill?

Not copying the bill itself, but the line item individually

Background - I am buying 5 blue widgets.

But these 5 blue widgets could potentially go to 5 different customers.

In order give myself the opportunity to individually list each customer, I am entering the same line item 5 times (5 blue widgets instead of just making the qty 5)

Is there a way to copy the line item itself, rather than having to chose and select it each time?

And is there a faster/more efficient way to do this?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Qb online bill entry

Thank you for posting here in the Community, @userjcrabtree.

The option to copy the line item when creating your bill in QuickBooks Online (QBO) is currently unavailable. Having this feature in QBO is indeed a great idea and I'll surely take note of this and send this straight to our Developers for consideration in future updates.

I also encourage you to send one from within the product. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to the Gear icon and select Feedback.
  2. Provide your product suggestion.
  3. Click on Next to submit feedback.

You can check out this article for more information about providing feedback to make the program better: How do I submit feedback?.

Refer to the following article for more information about recording payments towards bills: Enter bills and record bill payments in QuickBooks Online

Let me know if you need further help with your bills or other transactions. I'm always glad to help in any way I can. Have a wonderful day!

Our company has a new Quickbooks started this year. It seems like maybe something wasn’t done right in set up, I’m not sure. When entering a bill, there’s an error that says an account must be chosen. After researching, it seems there should be an account detail field that is populated on the bill entry page. We don’t have that. What is the problem and how do we fix it?

Hello @Dante3,

Thank you for posting here in the Community. I can help you fix the error message when creating a bill in QuickBooks Online.

You have the option to use Account/Category details or Item details when entering a bill. Please make sure to include an account or item for those lines you've entered an amount.

A blank line will trigger the error when saving the transaction (see sample screenshot below).

If the issue persists, the browser's stored cache may be full. It causes unusual results in QuickBooks, like the error on your end.

I'd suggest you start by logging into your account using a private browser. This way, you can access sites without storing any data in the cache. It's a great way to isolate browser-related issues.

If you're using Mozilla Firefox or Microsoft Edge, press the CTRL + Shift + P shortcut on your keyboard. For Safari, hit Command + Shift + N. Press CTRL + Shift + N if you're using Google Chrome.

From there, create the transaction again and review the outcome. If it works fine, let's clear out your browser's cache to have a clean slate.

In case private browsing doesn't work, use another supported web engine. It will help us identify where the issue is coming from when creating a bill.

For additional reference, you can use the following article to learn about the correct way to add bills and payments in QuickBooks: Enter bills and record bill payments in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you need more assistance entering transactions or resolving error messages. The Community and I will be here to help you.
