Quickbooks Desktop Migration Tool crashes when Data Usage window in opens QB Desktop

Migrating data from QB Online BACK to QB Desktop. I have the xml file from QB online and the Desktop Migration Tool. Instructions are to start QBDT but without any windows open. Then use the migration tool. The migration tool crashes every time when QBDT throws up a window called "Quickbooks Desktop Usage & Analytics Study". Clearly, no windows are supposed to be open when running the migration, but QBDT throws open its own and then everything crashes with error 1009. 

Any help? Clearly, the problem is with the stupid Usage & Analytics window.

No one from QB ever actually reads these, right?  Because I wrote:

"The migration tool crashes every time when QBDT throws up a window called "Quickbooks Desktop Usage & Analytics Study"."

QBDT itself opens the window that crashes the migration tool. I even attached a picture of the situation, which the bot probably cannot interpret.

So, no, your canned solution is no solution at all.
